This seems to be very low profile, not much info, anyone know anything?

Not great reporting, article goes back to the Sea Point incident and shows that video.

The "Sea Point incident" happened in Camps Bay :whistling:

Chappies is a hot spot, due to the stop-and-go system being employed at the moment. I was clipped by a vehicle just past the lower stop-and go heading up Chappies about a month ago. Vehicle drivers are impatient.

Brogue, impatient is an understatement.

But the cyclists are not so innocent themselves.

Was playing tourist guide to my upcountry visitors last weekend. Going up Chappies the traffic was heavy, backed up for at least 1km to the Tollbooth from Houtbay side (i.o.w Stop Go driving) There were also lots of cyclists on the road. Just before the Toll Booth where the lanes becomes double, the car infront of me moved forward and into the left hand lane. Some punk on his Cervelo came racing past from behind on the left hand side, and the driver of the car inadvertantly "cut him off" as he went into the left hand lane. Mr Cervelo went into a tirade, banging on the cars bonnet and shouting at the driver (an oldish grey haired toppie) The driver kept on apologising to the ranting Mr Cervelo, but he wanted none of it, even though he was in the wrong, passing the cars from behind on the left and at a great speed.

I later had enough and got out of my car and shouted at him to stop being such an arse and accept he was in the wrong. He just flew into a tirade with me, but before things could escalate the traffic started moving again.

So there is always two sides to a story.

Motorist says "I got out of my vehicle". Why? To do what? Have a friendly chat? I doubt it.... Sounds like a guy that tried to make trouble and got a klap and now is being a cry baby.

The motorist says the cyclists were obstructing traffic at the time.

“I got out of the vehicle, one cyclist grabbed me by the neck and forced me against my car. The other cyclist was shouting verbal abuse. I was shouting at the other cyclists who weren’t in the incident to please report it.”

He must have got out to ask him to just scoot over a little bit with his fist...

I might be wrong, but I think the incident happened in Sea point but was reported as camps bay. Doesn't really matter, but shows how little facts went into the sensationalist angle the reports took.

I am a cycling addict who is guilty of shouting at cars as much as the next guy, but this is not going to stop until cyclists realize they are smaller than cars and must be careful, its like a poodle V doberman.

I have been completely swayed to MTB due to my fear of motorists.

There's the odd 'roid rager' on a Cervelo and a few aggro club members.

The rest are pretty chilled.

Roadies are never chilled. Nowhere. Ever.

Mind the rock gardens and pesky tree roots, danger abounds along the single track :whistling:
