I've just been rebuilding a GPZ750 engine. I didn't let it bother me when one of the piston rings snapped when I was putting the barrels on. I just stuck the bits of it in anyway. My  mate has called me a cheapskate in the past, but this time he says I'm really scraping the barrel.

T7 price apparently 199-500 zar.

The Tenere 700? Why such a variation? Is the R500k for the Rally Edition?

If so that's mental! R199k for the standard isn't outrageous though.

I know there was a discussion previously on this thread about the T7 vs KTM 790 Adventure R pricing and how the Tenere is overpriced.

The gist of it was, that yes, in SA and compared to the KTM it seems pricey, but in the rest of the world the price f the T7 is about the same (About R186k here in NZ), whilst the KTM is far more expensive (at about R264k for a 2020 model or R291k for a 2021 in NZ)

So in SA the problem isn't so much that the T7 is overpriced, but rather that the KTM is under-priced (compared to the global market with a price of R210k in SA), which isn't a bad problem to have.

That said, I've seen a number on the roads here in NZ, and very few 790 Adventure R's. Seems Kiwis aren't keen to part with that extra R80k or so.

Even as a big Husqvarna fanboy (and therefore by default a medium KTM fan), I'd consider the T7 over the 790 adventure. Partially on price, and partially on looks. It looks more like my dream bike (Husky 450 Rally) than the over-styles KTM.

My apologies.

It’s meant to read R199 500

Ktm pricing in za is very competitive an cheaper than Europe. I believe ktm gives preferential pricing to the za market.

The thought of spending 200k on a motorcycle is insanity in my mind.
Same with bicycles. Ill have to wait a couple of years before I consider trading the 8gs for a 8fiddy.
or perhaps win the lottery.

Took the 8gs for a burn through the cradle after dropping the lighty off at school, and even with 116k kms on the clock, I still had a schoolboy grin on my face when I stopped at home.

Thought I'd share pics of my new 2014 kx250f.

Full fmf exhaust and header. Vortex ingntion /ECU, racetech gold valves front and back...

Bike has a whopping 60 hours from new

Blows my 03 kx125 out the water in every aspect :)

Nice! I had a 2013 for a while. It ate inlet valves like nothing I’ve ever seen before! Ti Valves and once that hard coating had worn off you’d have to shim every 10 hours. Went through 6 sets of valves in 2 years. Then tried stainless valves with heavier springs but that sapped all its power only being a 250.

Had a few 300’s after that. Was heaven. Then got a 450F and shat my pants! Went back to 2-smokers.

Enjoy the bike!!

Same here with the valves in these motocross machines.

They are made to opened up every other day for shimming and replacing.

On the bright side, it wheelied for days, hoick it up in 2nd, shift through to 5th and just hold it there for as long and far as you wish.......

Is that Toby?

Indeed!! Just arrived. Sam Sunderland been here for a month already been doing some MX and stuff. I’ve been trying to catch some of their sessions but they been riding a few km’s off the access roads. I’ve got a bloody Sandton 4X4 and been stuck enough times here now to know I can’t get to a good vantage point. Hoping Toby and Co. will do some of the MX races so I can watch.
