contaminated supplements took down our Springbok team - chilliboy and bjorn basson were the two unlucky ones who had to pee in the cup. The supplier seems to have got away ok with it, maybe some more serious stuff behind the scenes

My question is, what happened to the 'staff' who fed it to them and if the DC knew about the conditions why were they still 'reprimanded"?

Except that the bio passport could very provide an insight either way. That's one of the reasons it was introduced.

great point and hopefully part of his defense

Psht, Ballz Radio ....

Outside of his BMX/MTB comments on the Olympics, lost respect for Ligget from those radio interviews,

His interviews showed one of the biggest contradictory turn arounds with LA imho, on public record nogal ...

Make of it what you will,

With you but then you have to look at the facts....he tested positive aka he is standing over the body with a smoking gun. Now I am not saying he isn't innocent...he will get a chance to prove this, its just that if you look at the history books(doping and cycling) the smart money is that he is guilty.

Getting off on a technicality is worst case for me....his defense needs to be sharp. The old contaminated steak / juice / penicillin course is getting stale and I really hope for his sake he has something better to base his defense on than that argument.

I am also sure that he is a super nice guy but if he is guilty, well then he deserves what is coming(probably a 2 year ban). He knew the consequences. Being a saffa / maillot jaune owner shouldn't bend our opinions.

For me him being a saffa is what is making it difficult.

Emotionally I'd like him to be innocent.

Logically I'd like him to be guilty.

Not sure what to hope for...

There is no doubt that he has a banned substance in his body - a substance not found "normally" in supplements (thanks Talus!) so the chance of it getting there accidentally is slim. Tough case to defend.

But he's a nice guy and I've ridden with him (queue violins and Eldron going "ahhh shucks".)

So conflicted. It's pretty easy when a Euro gets done - not so much when it's close to home.

thought this had gone a bit cold, assume Daryl Impey team is mounting a defence for the tribunal.

Impey will now stand before an independent tribunal to defend his case, where he will have the chance to prove his innocence. If found guilty, he faces an approximate two-year ban, which would kick in as of 23 June 2014 – and not February, when the test was performed, as he has been competing in the interim. The exact ban will depend on the mitigating circumstances presented and the outcome of the tribunal.

Galant explained that SAIDS like to wrap these cases up speedily and that they usually take place within a month, but Impey may request a postponement to gather evidence for his defence.
