Heard at the end of the Tour de France Highlights show yesterday that ITV4 will be covering La Vuelta this year :-)

The 69th Edition of La Vuelta, which will be 3181.5km long, runs from Saturday 23rd August to Sunday 14th September 2014.

It starts down in the South West of the country with a 12.6km TTT in Jerez de la Frontera and finishes up in the North West of the country with a 10km ITT in Santiago de Compostela.

In between there will be 5 Flat Stages, 13 Hilly or Mountain Stages and 1 ITT - a 34.5km route that includes a 3rd Cat Climb.

Should be an epic battle between Quintana and Froome. It's always an exciting race.

5 flat stages and 13 mountain stages... poor sprinters!!

Is ITV4 in the Multichoice bouquet? Would it be worth upgrading to premium? I don't usually allow myself to be scammed by them for more than about a month each year.

Yeah, its going to be a real race this year with a lots of pro's trying to "rescue" the season, but the highlight for me is going to see Dougs dream come true, a African team in the big league. Ive known Doug for years and raced plenty against him, and I really respect what he and Malcolm are doing for SA Cycling, not only was he one of SAs first Olympians and got alot from the sport, but now he is putting back, that is the mark of a true champion. Cant wait!!!

Myra - ITV4 is a British TV Station - they generally do live coverage of the the last couple of hours of each stage, longer if its a mountain stage. Then they do a 1 hour highlights program at 7pm (UK Time) each evening. The highlights show has interviews and background facts and figures thrown in. Its a nice way to keep up to date with the Tour when you don't have hours and hours to watch TV. Phil & Paul are the race commentators and then there's Matt Rendal, Ned Boulting and Chris Boardman doing the interviews and inside info & behind the scenes bits.

I don't know what "Tour coverage show" DSTV buys? We don't have DSTV - so we wait until about 10pm (SA time) each day and then download the days stage in torrent form and then watch it the next day. It means were always 12 odd hrs behind seeing it, but we don't mind that.

ITV4 will be covering La Vuelta, so I will be able to download their program each day in torrent form and watch it.

Yes, he posted on Facebook saying that his doctors are unable to tell him when he'll be able to ride again, so he's out for the Vuelta.

Sad, but if he did ride he probably wouldn't have been at his best anyway.

Thank you for the comprehensive response. I think I will be doing the same as you.
