Just another marketing gimmick or is there something there?

WHAT IS THE TURBINE

2013 Tour de France winner and current Vuelta a España contender, Chris Froome, has discovered the solution to easier breathing is right under his nose in this year's Vuelta! The Turbine is a unique respiratory product that can increase airflow through the nose by 38%, giving you up to 3.7% more power, while relieving the feeling of breathlessness. Like Chris Froome, amateur and professional athletes are discovering the benefits of breathing easier when using the Turbine in cycling, triathlon, running, non-impact sports and general fitness. The Turbine is now sold in Leader’s Jersey Yellow and is on show at the Interbike Cycling Expo in the USA. Check out the action in our social network.

looks like a gimmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmick.

remember the rugby players used to all out a little plaster on their bridge to flare nostrils a bit...that fashion went.

Then again they all also used to wear silly little gloves which did make a bit of sense in the wet, so maybe not a good test group.

I wonder if there is anything to it or if its another power balance bracelet.

Going to look like a royal chop wearing one though.

a Performance airflow intake, nice :) Now they just need to add forced induction :P

I can't remember the name of it, but I once saw a device that you use to make breathing harder so you can exercise the intercostal muscles. Then when you breathe normally without it it's much easier.

They might be on to something - my heart rate drops by 3-5 bpm if I close my mouth and only breathe through my nose. Problem is, I can't keep this up as my skinny white man's nose does not let me breathe fast enough through my nose only. I've tried the strips which work until they peel off from sweat (which happens pretty quickly). Apparently, your nose conditions the air adding moisture, removing dust etc. which improves the ability of the lungs to take up O2. So the more you can breathe through your nose the better.

Dont care how well it works, i'm not riding around with something like that up my nose.

Ok maybe if they pay me lots i would, but thats unlikely so...

I remember those breathe right plasters when they came out in the 90's which are still popular amongest the SPONSORED athletes today.

Out of fashion you say?

I remember those, used to use them. They did provide for more airflow through your nose. When you take it off it feels like you are suffocating.

Well....that nose plaster thing works very well. People tend to think it is just a plaster. It is actually a little spring that pulls the walls of the nose upwards and thus more air comes in. Your nose actually burns after a ride if you use it. And if you have a nose bone like mine that grows scew almost closing one side of your nose, then it helps a LOT. This thing....seems a good idea. I would want to get my hands on it to see how much it "hurts" after 2 hours........

So it's a "FreeFlow" for your nose.

Exactly... Sky continues with their maginal gains strategy... Maybe Froomster won't look at his stem so much anymore then

Interesting _ I have heard a few people confess to "loving" the nasal strips and they can "feel a difference"... Similar people said the same thing about powerbands though

Where does one get these nasal strips from?
