I can only run at one pace... SLOW!

I did however get a second pair of running shoes last week.

And i can tell you that road shoes are much faster than trail shoes for normal day to day running.

The only reason road shoes are faster than trail shoes is beacause your body realises road sucks and wants to get on the trails faster...

Its bever congested at the front of the race ;-)

Its the only place I hang out... at least for the first 3 k's and then settle back a little. My local parkrun is an absolute killer with massive hills and 1.5k's of beach... need to be out front otherwise you get stuck in the crowd.

Got home tonight thinking i had to cycle (which means IDT as its to late) followed by a short run, checked my training plan and I got it wrong, its a 60 minute run...BARGAIN did not feel like sitting inside on the IDT. Lots of people out running, all got that spring resolution to get fit and slim

I found the only way for me to get some distance is to run away from home, and when I am gatvol and tired I turn around. One thing that I realised by doing this is that rhythm is key to enjoying a run, and I only find mine after about 7k, dont know why so long, but try and push past the initial feeling of "**** this" and another thing, walking is your friend while you are still warming up and new to running. Try planning your run so that you can enjoy the sunset/sunrise, it also helps.

I wouldn't call it slow, getting to 5:45 is not slouchy stuff.

Ok so it aint couch potato slow but definitely not something to brag about or tell the whole hub. ????????????

Don't worry Ma'am, speed kills and running slower at a normal speed is more social

I just want to categorically state for the record that I am only getting into running to help with my cycling habit! It will not be a substitute!

The running lurve is growing in this thread and soon we'll all become those yogging types that used to hang out on singletrack in Tokia, if this thread carries on the way it's going!

Modders is pretty bad. I know they are getting some new parking organised for it and looking to get another event going to try break it up a bit.

A good friend of mine is the race directory for the modders parkrun.

Seriously though, parkrun is a good way to start. I can tell you for 100% sure that you will not be the slowest person even if you have never run before and its a really good bunch of people.

Agreed.

I have seen some folks doing it in over two hours.

What matters is not how fast you are....just that you take part.

The sherriff has explained to me nicely that distance and pace come with time.

Another chop often tells me "Slowly Slowly catch a monkey"

Hmm. This running thing. I'm told that it's good for riding, but I hate it so much. Maybe now that I'm not fat anymore.... Sigh.

I found it much easier to get into running after losing a bit of weight and gaining a bit of leg strength from cycling.
