Rocket-Boy Posted June 4, 2015 Posted June 4, 2015 Well said MTBeer!! I thought this was a cycling forum where we all share our experiences and not a mumbo jumbo forum for pedantic "scientists". I do have records and stats and so do the others. We all have power meters and Self Loops can verify my loss of form but why do I have to try and prove myself - take our word for it - BANTING DOES NOT WORK FOR CYCLISTS!!Maybe it didnt work for you, probably because you either werent strict enough initially or didnt stick to it long enough. I had substantial gains during the year and a bit that I did it. Going to start again in a months time.
Sniffie Posted June 4, 2015 Posted June 4, 2015 If you have a k@k engine......not even jet race fuel will make it go faster......maybe go POEF with a lot of smelly smoke and nuts and bolts....but definitely not faster.LOL! That is so true. You can add nitro's and high octane to a 4 cylinder, but it remains a 4 cylinder.
Captain Fastbastard Mayhem Posted June 4, 2015 Posted June 4, 2015 LOL! That is so true. You can add nitro's and high octane to a 4 cylinder, but it remains a 4 cylinder.Tell that to this guy...
Wobbles Posted June 5, 2015 Posted June 5, 2015 geez chill with the generalisations there buddyive been paleo for two yoursim faster now than I was in my twentiesand do 2-3 hour training rides on water .... maybe you where just doing it wrong You boys are getting confused. Banting is great for everyday living and training at low intensity. Some will lose weight on Banting, but I suspect it is only those who ate badly before and probably had too much sugar in their diet. Top teams and others do periodise and use their fat reserves on a Tempo ride by drinking water and eating nuts, etc. BUT on a high intensity ride - which most groups do, despite the best of intentions, carbs are needed fast and fat is inadequate.
Escapee.. Posted June 5, 2015 Posted June 5, 2015 Lol. Okay. More background. I was 5ft5 in matric. Only got to 6ft when I was 22. So I'm stocky (had to be to survive) so I'm a bit if a special case. Longest I've held to a particular weight was when I was in the UK (21 to 24) and that was 85kg... Then I got back to the land of mom's cooking and no exercise at all. Been steadily climbing to where I am now. Been 105 for about a year. Hiiieeeelllooooooo Buffalo Brother........176cm (5foot 9inches) and 105kg.......BMI of 33.9 (apparently morbidly obese en ongeskik) Dikgatte

Patchelicious Posted June 5, 2015 Posted June 5, 2015 I'm still interested to see what metrics Wobbles constitutes as "banting"... Seems everything LC is umbrella-ed as "banting".
the nerd Posted June 5, 2015 Posted June 5, 2015 ill watch from the fat boy corner i wanna come, I'll bring chips! and a coke.
blondeonabike Posted June 5, 2015 Posted June 5, 2015 i wanna come, I'll bring chips! and a coke. That is not banting or paleo either.... Funny thing about these discussions about sports nutrition.......we all have a good idea about what we should and should not be eating, so even if we agree on the best diet...it does not matter ... 90% of us eat rubbish on the weekends anyway.

Hence why when people ask me what diet I've been on I call it the 'I'm old enough to know what I should and shouldn't eat' eating plan.
