I will be bottom 5%, so no thanks. I will just amble along my runs as per usual.

Question for the seasoned runners here. Do you find that your HR is a bit high after being sick for a while? My HR is still high. About 10 to 15bpm higher than normal whilst doing my LSD pace.

Yipp, takes me about 3 weeks to get back to normal.

Was sick beginning may, and did a small 30 mtb race last week saturday.

Had an avg hr of 182 and max of 195.

Normally the avg should be low 170's for me.

we went through drummond at the same time - and then we pretty much ran together from murray road to the finish - without me noticing you - how the hell did that work out! You obviously saw me running with my mate on his bike going down cleland cos you were right next to me!

I guess the two of you are not very talkative while running  ^_^

or you were moving too fast to talk...

ha ha - when we were crossing each other  - i was so gatvol i wasn't paying attention to anyone!!

I had to laugh though...just before Murray - this one guy was making this repetitive scream/warcry every 10 seconds....while the guy next to me followed it up with "SHUT THE F@#K UP!"...this carried on for at least 10 repetitions

:D  :D  :D

I can't stand some of the chants ... or even worse some sort of music instrument. I am all for motivating other runners, but it gets to me. I usually try and get away from these people, not always possible though.

Soweto Marathon entered... want to be up back and running pretty well by then (5 Nov)

I too pulled the trigger today. Self seeded myself in 4:01-4:30 batch, hopefully I wasn't being to optimistic there. Guess only time will tell.

Is OMTOM qualifying time also 4:59:59 like Comrades?

Ha ha ha, cant believe it. I only noticed you at 3km to go. I saw Stretch at the back of your number and I knew here is a hubber ha ha ha. You went out ahead of me when I begged 2 old people if I can have one of their Koeksisters. My bloodsugar level was dropping at a alarming rate. From there is didnt see you again until we exited the finishline. Atleast we got a pic together ha ha ha

When you guys do hilly runs, what sort of elevation and gradients do you aim for in a run?

I will try to get over 200-300m in on my long runs. But i am staying in a flat part of ZA so hilly runs are a rarety here.

Did a 18km run on Sunday, total elevation was 40m. And I seeked out all the hills

It's time you join me, looks like your skimping and actually looking for the Universitas flats. lol

On our weekly runs we get 80-110m on a 8-10km, but that IS seeking ALL the hills in Lhp.

Weekend runs when we can include Happy Valley, Naval Hill and Heuwelsig we get 380m on a 25km, but I recon this must be close to Max that you can rack up in Bloem, without repeating anything.

Try training in Kimberley, 73m elevation over 30.1 kms...  ^_^
