2018 Comrades stats:

On another note, Wally Hayward Marathon (online) entries closes today for the 21 & 42.

http://wally.co.za/

Same thing happened before they moved the cut off times.

% of finishers also stays the same.

If they took the cut off time back to 11h, I would suggest the numbers (% wise) would stay the same. People will just train slightly harder and push slightly more on race day.

It might mean a few less entries though, but unlikely to be material.

On that note do you know when entries open for 2020? I have a very slim chance.. But I'm going to give it a go anyway

Holding Thumbs for you SPEEDY  ;)

Is it like the Argust? Can you apply for a second lap if you think you can get around twice before the cut off?

On the other side of the Atlantic it's much the same and we are only getting the tail off this massive storm that's heading north. I would not want to run in this

My Lopkopdam race report:

Walked 1km to the start from my accomodation which was great.

Started running and soon realized that I am not feeling good however I cannot pinpoint what the hel is bugging me.

Had to made a forced pitstip at about 8km in.

From there it was a monster sufferfest.

I never expected the run walk to start so soon, but it is what it is and at this point I was trying everything so that I will make it to the finish.

The saddest part for me was when I wasn’t able to run all the downhills and I love downs.

I walked about all of the last 5km due to nausea and vomiting.

I finished 6:08 and when straight to the medical tent.

Today I am still in bed, clearly a tummy bug of some sort.

Heal up carpet. The fact that you completed in that condition confirms that you have the mental ability to complete a comrades.

Despite all that.. Congrats on your first ultra. Ask yourself if you would have run an ultra marathon 3 years ago!
