dave303e Posted October 8, 2019 Posted October 8, 2019 there are a few hills which are just the right gradient for it in our area Barry. Delta has 3 of them. I had fun with a guy on a mtb last week. We approached Delta along the spruit from the South and he buzzed past me and turned up that hill South East Corner of the park from the spruit up to the entrance road to the campsite. So I upped the pace slightly and passed him 2/3rds up to the tar road. He then buzzed me again just after the top. Then on the climb along the fence by leighton road I passed him again near the top. It is always funny they either give up or you see the cadence go through the roof and the gears rattling away... Barry Stuart 1

Frosty Posted October 8, 2019 Posted October 8, 2019 Have you guys ever run up a hill and past a cyclist? Can't believe it happened to me going up Southern Cross Drive this weekend. Passed a couple people. Wasn't even running fast. 5 min/kmSome people run Comrades quicker than cyclists do the Amashova. Craai and Andrew Steer 2
Let's Ride Posted October 8, 2019 Posted October 8, 2019 Passing a cyclist on a downhill.... Now there's a real challenge! Bwahaha. My legs don't like the downhills. Some runners just go for it.
ScottCM Posted October 8, 2019 Author Posted October 8, 2019 Bwahaha. My legs don't like the downhills. Some runners just go for it. I feel your pain. I generally run slightly quicker up a hill than what i do coming down it.
SeaBee Posted October 8, 2019 Posted October 8, 2019 I feel your pain. I generally run slightly quicker up a hill than what i do coming down it. Now that's just wrong...
Hacc Posted October 8, 2019 Posted October 8, 2019 I follow Ben Parkes on YouTube. I can't remember which video it was but he mentions that you need to do downhill repeats... I have never thought about this until he mentioned it.
Chris_ Posted October 8, 2019 Posted October 8, 2019 I follow Ben Parkes on YouTube. I can't remember which video it was but he mentions that you need to do downhill repeats... I have never thought about this until he mentioned it. My hill sprints became downhill sprints (the focus at least) before Kaapsehoop. I knew my knees would not be able to take 40kms of down without some work. (+1 for running faster up than down over here too...)
Barry Stuart Posted October 8, 2019 Posted October 8, 2019 I follow Ben Parkes on YouTube. I can't remember which video it was but he mentions that you need to do downhill repeats... I have never thought about this until he mentioned it. My heart says yes but my knees say no.
SwissVan Posted October 8, 2019 Posted October 8, 2019 I'll drink it even if it's just for the placebo effect. Just don't drink to much of it... the colour of your urine will have other athletes screaming test him test him... ScottCM 1
Chris_ Posted October 8, 2019 Posted October 8, 2019 Just don't drink to much of it... the colour of your urine will have other athletes screaming test him test him... Don't be that guy standing in the middle of the road peeing himself. There's always time to step into the bushes...
ScottCM Posted October 8, 2019 Author Posted October 8, 2019 Now that's just wrong... That's why Kaapsehoop is one race I have absolutely ZERO desire to compete in.

Passed a couple people. Wasn't even running fast. 5 min/km Pfft.... Have you guys ever cycled up a hill and been passed by a runner? We have this terrible hill climb challenge on our local berg, its held over 2 weeks every summer.2.4 km route that you can do walking, running, mtb or road bike.... everyones times are recorded online via a phone app or timing card that gets electronicaly stamped at the start and finish. Yep, a runner had the audacity to pass me on my mtb (i don't even bother to ride it on my road bike) Lexx 1
