Mudsimus Posted March 5, 2020 Posted March 5, 2020 So will Bonitas provide masks this year instead of arm warmers for Comrades? Great. Running through a curtain of covid19 snot bombs.

DogStar 9 Posted March 6, 2020 Posted March 6, 2020 Hi guys I’m sure it’s been discussed before in these 902 pages. How do you carry water on longer training runs?Bottle in the handSmall bottles on a beltVest with soft bottlesHydration backpackor like a friend I asked, plans all her runs past a petrol station and buys a water. Before I go spend lots of school fees, any advice would be great.thx
shaper Posted March 6, 2020 Posted March 6, 2020 I do most of my long runs with garages along the way.If i do want a change of scenery and run a different route or elsewhere where potential water points not available/suitable i run with a vest and carry
Jewbacca Posted March 6, 2020 Posted March 6, 2020 I have a 500ml hand held and a pair of hydration shorts that hold 600ml very very comfortably..... See below; https://thesavage.biz/collections/mens-wearable-gear/products/u-d-hydro-shorts-mens https://thesavage.biz/collections/hydrapak-all/products/hydrapak-500ml-softflask-w-handle-and-flat-bottom The hydro shorts are so rad. They allow you to go half coke half water in between water points on marathons too if you aren't running full gas or need a pick me up. I also train with them up the mountain instead of a vest. 600ml is enough to get me from pool/stream to pool/stream anywhere on tbl mntn and it free's up my hands for hopping and leaning on my quads...
Hacc Posted March 6, 2020 Posted March 6, 2020 If I run in the Cradle there are no waterpoints. I bought a box of 100 water sachets from Oasis. I freeze some of the sachets and I hide it at certain points on the route. (works especially well if you do an out and back) After my run I stop with my car and I pick it up if anything is left. You can do this on any route. Lexx 1

Wow didn’t even know about hydro shorts, like a belt that won’t bounce Jewbacca 1
DogStar 9 Posted March 7, 2020 Posted March 7, 2020 Thx for repliesEveryone seems to have different strategies, think I’ll just have see what works for me.A friend has offered to lend me his vest and give it a go.
Jewbacca Posted March 7, 2020 Posted March 7, 2020 Wow didn’t even know about hydro shorts, like a belt that won’t bounceYeah... no bounce and the shorts are actually really comfortable, stretchy and free. I cut the lycra liner out as it gets a bit hot for me. I'm trying to devise how to turn all my favourite shorts into hydro shorts!
Jackes Posted March 8, 2020 Posted March 8, 2020 Hi guys How do you carry water on longer training runs?Bottle in the hand This, for road, a 500ml oros bottle for me and a 300ml for the Mrs to be exact. Aonijie running vest for trail.

I used to always pass a petrol station and stop there. Here in Ireland... In winter.. Waters is less necessary but I generally leave a bottle by a Farmers field gate and pick it up along the way for any runs greater than 25km. Summer we would normally have about 2 drops. Less than 25km I usually don't bother with water
Mudsimus Posted March 8, 2020 Posted March 8, 2020 This, for road, a 500ml oros bottle for me and a 300ml for the Mrs to be exact. Aonijie running vest for trail.I always used expensive running bottles, but then you can't bin it if it's empty. Lately I'm running with 500ml Powerade bottles, very comfortable, you don't even notice it while running.
dave303e Posted March 9, 2020 Posted March 9, 2020 Running pack for the win, even if it is just 1 soft flask and some food. I have been pack horse training lately, so between the 2 x bottles, 2 x soft flasks and 3 x 3 liter bladders of water- hydration has been sorted. Quads haven't enjoyed life though. SeaBee Posted March 9, 2020 Posted March 9, 2020 When I am fully healed, and can run enough again, I also do the vest with soft flask thing - and like Dave we spend most of our runs off the tar.
