this old time high speeds can make some nice Friday material

 - magnet / sensor speed vs. GPS speed...lol

My GPS was off, my max speed was 78km/h(with speed/cadence sensor) and my buddie's max speed was only 76 with GPS on we were together all the way, he was actually quicker than me on the downhills.

Damn, late to the speed and power stats!

OK, so was in the VA break from start of M1 to Steyn City, I did not have enough legs or mind to hang on with the 3 winners, but they rode great!

Finishing time: 2:22:53

Max Speed: 84.5

Ave Power:        304 (3.9)

Max Power:     1224 (15.7)

NP:                    333 (4.27)

20min Power:    311 (3.99)

TSS:                 252.8

Ave Cad:            87

Current weight:  78

Must say, 2 hours sleep and a 3 hour drive to the start did not help, my head was out of it at times.

Video is currently busy uploading to YouTube

Edit: Added W/kg for better comparison. Guys wanting to race should really use this as goal posts, we need more strong guys racing and this is why I share the info.

My max was 79.5km/h, can't seem to get past that, got the same on last year's 947. As long as I can see what is going on in front of me i.e. good following distance, I am happy to go fast.

Did hit a water bottle at around 40km/h on the M1 this year. Gave me a massive fright but was able to jump just enough to go over it.

I'd be getting PK's left and right as soon as we'd return to a more acceptable speed...

I gave it my all from D batch..

Couldn't stick with any big bunches so to say.

So, tried to work with few people here and there.. Was in for Sub3 upto about the last third of the race where I almost cramped and lost about 3mins..

Also ran out of water during the last 20km or so..

Ended on 3:02..

Weight - 59kg

Height- 170cm

Avg Cadence - 100rpm

Avg HR - 174bpm

Max HR - 191bpm

Max Speed - 79kmh

No power meter unfortunately..

Struggled on the hills this time surprisingly..

That's quite a high Avg HR, Is this normal or were you going flat out?

Started in B, 2h39.  No seeding due to some medical problems last year.

Most of the way I wasn't in the red.  I did help pull (because I wasn't in the red)

61kg, quarq power meter.

avg. power: 177 watts, NP: 206

avg hr: 152

avg cadence: 87

max power: 795 (no breaks, no sprint)

max hr: 170

max cadence: 124

max 20min: 213 watts.

Interestingly this was probably the race I was the least stressed in (mentally) in a long time.

I was going on the limit most of the way.. i should mention my age is 26.. So yeah mostly zone 4 all way, with not enough voomah to even kick at the end.

interesting to note that the breakaways that lasted or got away from the groups happened from many different places and distances on the course, i always thought when the racing guys check the course out only 1 or 2 places would stand out as ideal to make your move and most would recognise those places. JA-Q001 said they broke away at the start of the M1, thats relatively flat and very far out.
