Dopers suck

I saw the person on there caught for doping in bowls, had a quick laugh, then googled the things they were busted for. Turns out I am on one of those    . Should I be worried doing my races (funrides) ?

Not really the PPA rides, but Sani2C and Epic, Karoo2Coast, Cape Pioneer etc

Nah, Karoo2Coast is fine, they let you ride even if you are serving a current doping conviction.

Thanks, will keep that in mind, maybe even check with the organizers before entering anything that big. But for now I am nowhere near the sharp end, so will try my luck.

That was last year when it was not a sanctioned event. This year it is again.

Seems he is on blood pressure meds, so it is not like he can just not take it?

This is where I do not understand the whole doping thing.

Why test the okes in the Epic that come in minutes before the cut off?

So if I am on blood pressure meds, I must get a TUE if I want to ride Sani just to finish within 29min to cutoff?

According to the rules, yes.

Lest you want to be labeled a cheat and a doper.

No boet, your first order of business is to get the TUE....

Thanks for the info, just went down a rabbit hole a bit and got the following info. If I plan to enter the elite category in a national level event or one of the following (Cape Epic, Joberg2C, Sani2C, Cape Pioneer, Trailseeker and National Mountain Bike series ) I need a TUE in advance. But since I am neither of those, I can continue to compete and get one if I ever get flagged.

Was just asking for the other person that posted. I am not on anything.

Just my opinion that it is expecting a bit much from complete amateurs in my opinion.

Since it is FRIDAY we are allowed to have opinions :-)

I wholeheartedly agree. Like I said, try and get a TUE!! The Pope may become Baptist before you can actually get hold of a TUE.

Also checkl out the list and see how many other sports are representing the guilty verdicts! Cycling is a small problem in relation to Rugby.

So why bother with the guys at the back just as much as the okes in the front?

IMO the okes at the back are a bigger risk to your event if they drop dead from improper use of PED's. those okes typically don't knowhow to PED'L , pedal or peddle so they're more likely to do themselves harm

I completely agree that drugs should not be allowed on any level as it is both dangerous to the user and set a precedent that you have to take something to compete. I was not aware of the rules but now that I have the information I am happy that I am within the rules. I do qualify for a TUE as per their regulations and if I ever decide to compete at a higher level I will get it before the races as required.

But for now cycling is just to clear my head and get a bit more healthy.

But if I should be required to know all this to sprint for 4725th place at 947 this year is another matter entirely?
