The times when a wood lathe would be so handy! Depending of course on how long the section is.

The mast sections are 2,5m a piece, but yes, a lathe would've been the bomb on Saturday, however, not a very long job (excuse the pun) using 60grit paper and patience!

how's that Makita saw in the background ito accuracy and adjustability to achieve accuracy? Any arbor wobble?

Hi Capricorn, I'm super pleased with it;

- It's accurate, I've mentioned here before, this machine needs a weekly check based on activity levels and mostly a monthly re-set.

- No arbor wobble what so ever

- I did replace the table insert with a wooden zero-clearance insert (self-made, you improve it you own it). The factory supplied plastic insert was to be brutally honest, absolute rubbish and a huge safety issue.

The fence is not fantastic, but I'll get to it this December and build a Biessemeier style fence that should sort it out.

Zero clearance is a definite must have. Nice looking crosscut sled there, when I built one it was the single biggest change to my table saw.

Keen to hear how you get on with making the Beisemeyer fence, its something I have been considering for a while now.

This is the best tutorial I have seen on the fence, Jeremy is great at explaining the stuff he does.

Those are some tight joints, nicely done. Where is the zoomed out pic of the whole thing? Need my Monday morning fix of woodwork projects!

Thanks, considering the material is 70mm x 70mm, cut on a Ryobi table saw with the blade on max extension, the joints are not bad. I clamp the wood to the guide, and then cut carefully...

Here's the zoomed out pic:

My dad has the same saw, it works well but the fence on his is absolute trash! at first the idea of dual sided locking on a fence seemed good but all it seems to do is pull the thing to the side and lock it there!

Finished up one or two guns over the weekend, going to a Christmas market tomorrow. Took much longer than anticipated to get the rpice tags and rubber bands on all of these.

On an unrelated note, bought a new house on Saturday ... hoping to be able to move in over December. Has a 7x7 workshop with a 8x7 carport in front of it, over and above the garages for cars. Well chuffed.

I've actually have a link to a vid which made one for the exact Makita table saw I have, will post tonight when home.

Last update as everything is finished now, plumbing, electrical work done. One happy wheelchair owner, made me feel somewhat proud for a first time challenge.1dd1aa71891d71331fca84791ba2b403.jpgad232f2ad0440af6d862832c4e20508d.jpgc4bf7cfc3b10255e10ebe51ccac02971.jpg

Looks very good - well done.

A small question - what is the cable on the upstand pipe next to the toilet that looks coiled?

Very good observation from you, I see that you are very keen on the detail of a project. That will be a handheld shower head with the water pipe connected to the water main line for when he might be too late reaching the bathroom or if they need to rinse the place as it's one whole bathroom that can be washed by any means necessary.

AHA... lightbulb moment :) couldn't for the life of me think what it might be

I hope you are going to protect that pipe if it's PVC somehow - stuff is sharp if someone falls on it.

Is he going to use a chair in the shower or can he support himself well enough without a shower chair?

Yes it is a +- 300mm pvc pipe coming through the floor, there is a folding chair on the left wall of the shower, will see if I've got a pic of it. There are rails bolted through the walls with 3 x 114x38 planks inside the walls to keep it structurally strong.

good move RE the handshower, wanted to say something sooner, but did not want to be a chop.

does that toilet-paper stay dry during a shower session?
