I don't hate "all road cyclist", just the ones who dress in stealth, and don't obey the road rules and then curse other road users when they can't be seen.

Banning cars would be a great idea, cause then there would be no roads and we would all be Mountain bikers :)

"If said cyclists has his own death wish to wear black, be on black and jump lights wearing headphones... then that is his choice!"

Thats my problem, I'm tired of reading about cycling deaths on Monday morning and the family they leave behind.

RANT ON

Who rides in black cycling gear, to match their matt black bike and black helmet, with no red or white light on their bike!

Yes, I know I'm opening myself up for a lot of abuse from the roadie community, but stop and think about it! While riding on the road, a place where you are the smallest vehicle, the path of least resistance, almost insignificant when it comes to other road users, the last thing you should be doing is dress like a Ninja!

It's funny, but the riders who dress in stealth also seem to be the ones who disobey the road rules, don't stop at red lights, ride two a breast and don't use hand signals.

The Muppet [singular, so can't be riding two abreast. At 3pm, it may have been his black shadow that you saw riding next to him] I saw riding north on Cedarroad at 3pm today, was wearing a black Specialized top riding a matt black Specialized bike, jumped two traffic lights in 2km. When I hooted at him as he went through the second traffic light he didn't flinch, because he was also wearing headphones!

While I am ranting, I would also like to address the "what are the rules" ranters - who has right of way:

People playing touch rugby on William Nicol or the cars?

People playing soccer on Rivonia Drive or the taxis?

Or Formula 1 cars on Sandton drive or the traffic?

If you think about it in that context, sports cyclists, like the above mentioned sports should have no place on the road (even if they are wearing neon shirts and have lights on their bikes). Unless it's a closed road event like 947, Comrades Marathon, or Sandton Grand Prix.

Commuters get the idea... Make yourself as visible as possible, ride in single file, stop at red lights, always look out for cars (cause they don't look out for you).

You need to remember that if you're in an accident, it doesn't matter 'who was in the right', you will always come off second best.

YOU are the path of least resistance.

RANT OFF!

I hope you don't mind me correcting a few of your spelling and grammar errors. I don't hate it, but rather trying to make it easier to read.

No problem with your sentiment but you remind me of those who blame women's clothing for rape.

Oh, and by the way, both bicycles and roads predate motor vehicles.

As mentioned above . . .

Man, people who can't spell annoy me . . . . .

comunity = community

sheath - stealth?? (assuming the guy wasn't actually wearing a "Condom" as a skin suit.

a breast = abreast - otherwise it is actually "a breast" ;-)

Ceder = Cedar

cause = 'cause (if you insist of abbreviating the word)

menssioned - mentioned

Commrads Marathon = Comrades Marathon

your = you're

cause = (see above)

Also - Not enough use of capital letters or exclamation marks.

4/10 for the rant.

"Could try harder"

If he was out at 3am in all black without lights then thats maybe a problem, but at 3pm with the sun shining... anyway he was clearly visible as you have all info from his kit and bike so what's the problem

No-one in this thread thinks that this guy has some valid points? No-one?

Given the title, anything subsequent is worthless.  Used to be against forum rules too, maybe still is.

I certainly do but the poor bloke just put it across poorly.

I agree with the camouflage clothing in the dark and the light thing.
