This is why motorists get annoyed

Today I saw two guys riding on the M4 between the Durban CBD and Umhlanga despite the tragedy that happened this.... to make it worse it was rush hour and they became an obstacle that most drivers had to drive around at the narrow section of the M4. This annoys me to no end.

What do you guys do when taxis stop everywhere without indicating forcing everyone to either wait or drive around them?

Deep breath....count to Zen. It's not worth it.

Highly annoyed today

3 recyclers with trolleys on Braam Fischer this morning taking up at least half a lane, cars queuing behind them.

Taxis turning from non-turning lanes at every intersection.

Pedestrians all over the road and not crossing at clearly demarcated pedestrian crossings.

Countless drivers on their mobile phones.

Thought I would share my thoughts, feeling better already.

JHB drivers can be bad - seen people on phones, people eating, one woman doing her knitting!

My FIL has one of those, he has not caught one you tube worthy clip yet and he drives a lot!

Those things are pricey though!!

Had a guy who sideswiped me and fled the scene of the accident. I chased and after about 2 kms of me flashing lights etc he stopped.

Said he never knew he hit me, his insurance came with same story.

I mailed the video which shows the view in front of me, (him driving away me flashing lights for him to stop) the location (so could show took 2 kms to stop) and the speed (he was at times doing in excess of 90 kms an hr in a 60 km zone)

They paid and I never heard the "never knew I hit you" story again.

Damage was R30 k excess was R5 k which he had to pay, so it has paid for itself.

Funny part of whole thing was the dash cam also has sound. You should hear me swearing whilst chasing him.

Was he also prosecuted criminally then for trying to make a run for it? What if there had been injuries to the occupants of your vehicle?

Mate serious

To get him prosecuted would mean walking into a SAPS and laying a charge.

SAPS are busy with Pravin Gordhan, Pres. Zuma #feemustfall , fitting blue lights to wanna be celebs cars etc

Why waste their time with a hit and run especially since my damage was covered

Ja its unfortunate, I think that's why there seems to be more and more muppets taking a chance and gapping it from the scene...no consequences so if you get away you have scored!

It's worth taking the chance and "running". The odds are good you will get away.

I'm reading that in the UK now years of cutbacks with the Police service are finally catching up with the country.

Previously, bad people - well they will always commit crimes, good people generally tended not to commit crimes and people "in the middle" would tend to "do the right thing" and not take the chance - for fear of getting caught etc.

Nowadays, bad people are still doing what bad people do, good people are getting more and more frustrated with the lack of Police visibility and action and with being "victims" and the people in the middle are starting to realise "hey, why shouldn't I commit this or that crime?" Generally small stuff that saves them money - driving with bald tyres for a while, dumping stuff in the veld instead of queing to take it to the tip . . . that sort of thing. Purely on the basis that the chances of getting caught are very small and "other people are doing it, so why should I go the expensive/inconvenient route?"

It's the opposite to marginal gains. Marginal losses - they all add up and suddenly you realise the snowball is halfway down the mountain with no brakes . . . .

Funny that you said this. I have noticed that over the past 8 years there are more and more examples of people pushing their luck through just changed robots, recently more okes weaving through the traffic at speed on the highway etc. Not at N1 levels by any means but certainly noticeable. I wonder if this links in to what you are saying?

Don't ever agitate a taxi driver ever
