Why?

I suspect there will be deals to be had on most trainers from the end of June (maybe even earlier).  New models will be announced at Eurobike (8 July).  So keep your eyes out of stores/brands clearing out current stock...

Usually if you are operating at the limit of the trainer then the watts cannot go that high in the gear you are in. Use a higher gear - the trainer will "loosen" for the lower watt requirements and "tighten" to the higher watt requirements.

Because you are using a too low a gear the trainer reaches its limit and thus cannot brake harder to get you to the required watts.

Thanks, will give this a go

New products may launch... But indoor trainers will only realistically make it to shelves by northern hemisphere winter (October) to capitalise on the Trainer season sales.

I would not hold my breath for discounted deals very soon... I would keep an eye on the new product launches.

Hi guys,

Thanks for the help with my cadence/power issue. It helped.

Another unrelated question.

My wife has started enjoying zwift so she's keen on signing up. Is there any way we can share my subscription or is there some family type package.

Gonna be expensive if each family member needs to open their own account.

Google search shows some talk about it back in 2016. Will contact them as well.

I don’t believe so. They get you addicted, wait for you to infect the wife. Then they put up the subscription by $5 p.m, though I am still being “grandfathered” at $10.

I speak subject to correction, but on Rouvy I think you get a family subscription or 2 user names.

Some news on discounts.

May or may not translate into savings in South Africa...

Your point on new models being announced soon seems even more likely now. Hopefully we see more and better midrange direct drive trainers.

Keep in mind that Tacx has been overpriced in the US for ages now; to some extent this is merely balancing things out. If I lived in Europe I would have the Neo.

So last night I was riding on Zwift and was just about to complete my ride when the dark hand of Eskom struck...

Is there any way to get my ride back? Does Zwift save the ride periodically on the local device before uploading it? If I switch my device back on now, will it automatically upload?

I'm using an Apple TV to run Zwift.

I found a “lost” zwift ride by going to their website, could download the fit-file and then manually upload to Strava etc

I tried that now and it has most of my ride - but the last part is missing.

Better than nothing I guess

Wow that's actually surprising. I would have guessed that it would be totally gone!

What device did you use?

I have been able to recover rides by finding the file on my Iphone using itunes, and the file sharing capability, you can download the whole zwift folder, and find your activity there. It can then be manually uploaded to strava. You cannot manually upload to zwift.com.

The rides are uploaded periodically to zwift.com while riding.

The same should hold true for PC, where you can find the activity in some folder and upload manually.
