New Brakes

I bought a bike with Avid Elixir 1 brakes on. Apparently very bad brakes.

Want to upgrade but do not want to spend arm and a leg (weekend warrior).

Came across Shimano BL-M315 front and back brand new for R950.00.

I would love SLX but my crammed budget won't allow. Do someone know if these BL brakes are any good? Apparently they now on a lot of new mid-range bikes.

HELP PLEASE

No. Your elixirs are perfectly fine. those shimanos will NOT be an upgrade at all....

Bleed the elixirs, get larger rotors and be done with it.

If you really want to upgrade/change the brakes PM me. I have a set of previous previous generation XT's you can have for R500 with a trade in of your Avids

Are your Elixirs giving you issues, or did someone just tell you they're crap?

Reviews I read online indicated they are noisy and not trustworthy.

And I watched a bit of a press conference yesterday where a mentally challenged imbecile thought he was still the main man at the state propaganda machine.....

Don't believe all you read. Unless it was written by Bell Pottinger.

That sounds like a fantastic deal, can anyone take you up on your offer Divernick?

I have Shimano M355 on my Silverback, pretty much bomb-proof. Have done a few OTB's when I started out on them

Reviews on the M315 are very good. R1K for new brakes is awesome.

Noise on the Elixirs should only come from the pad/rotor combination ? (correct me if I wrong). Could be sorted with resin pads?

Can't comment on trustworthiness.
