2bliss Posted August 8, 2018 Share She is such a happy baby..Amazing, really. It is like she is the physical embodiment of joy and happiness that can endure despite hardship and tragedy. Gen
2bliss Posted August 31, 2018 Share Today is dress-up day at Karmi's school. No prizes for guessing what she went as She has been able to stand up against things for a couple of weeks now. Kalahari Vegmot, V12man, Dogs and 10 others

Amazing to see how she's gone from that small little new born in NICU to this. 2bliss
2bliss Posted September 1, 2018 Share Good luck trying to look at this picture and not having a huge smile. AmazingTrue The only thing lacking in that picture is her own trademark smile. She wasn't feeling well and mum took her to the doc. He prescribed chronic asthma inhalation meds, because her lungs just aren't great.
2bliss Posted September 20, 2018 Share Hi guys. Since my last post things have not been going well for little Bunny. She has been in and out of hospital, getting physiotherapy, numerous antibiotics, inhalations, etc. Still, she has a persistent cough and keeps getting sick. Every time she tests positive for a number of bugs at the same time - some of them not things babies typically just pick up. Blood tests showed that she has low resistance too. Doctors are concerned. They will be testing her for TB and cystic fibrosis next.

V12man Posted September 21, 2018 Share They will be testing her for TB and cystic fibrosis next. The should test the whole family and domestic workers for TB/HIV - just a precaution - and staff at her school too.
2bliss Posted September 21, 2018 Share The should test the whole family and domestic workers for TB/HIV - just a precaution - and staff at her school too. The thought crossed my mind as well... (Also, she received so many blood transfusions in NICU!) Problem is, you can't make someone go for those tests or insist on being let in on the results. Scary thing is, TB is everywhere. You can get it from someone coughing on you whilst standing in line at the mall/bank/pharmacy/wherever.
2bliss Posted September 21, 2018 Share She sleeps better sitting up. So far the TB test is showing no reaction. They are waiting for the CF "sweat test" and a lung specialist has been called in. V12man and Delarey

2bliss Posted September 21, 2018 Share You can - but you are extremely unlikely to catch it unless you are in some way immuno compromised... as a prem newborn is.Yes, that is true and Karmi is immuno compromised. I was just saying that she can pick up an infection anywhere, so testing every person she regularly comes into contact with will not rule out all risk. Also, asking for TB or HIV/AIDS testing of the daycare staff is probably in violation of the POPI act or something similar.
