Buyer beware

Although I bought a low cost item here on the Hub and gave the seller good feedback I am at a loss. I bought Lizardskin bar tape a week ago and and completed the build on Saturday last week. I did a 3 hour club ride and the bar tape started peeling immediately. I called the Seller and asked for his receipt OR name of store he bought them from. He couldn't tell me where he bought it and couldn't find the receipt. So frankly I was in my own. I emailed Lizardskin and DM'd them on Instagram and Facebook..and nothing. Now I ask what can the buyer do? I could change my feedback and... pretty much nothing else!

Just buy new bartape? Just one of those things that happen from time to time. Unlucky that it was on the first ride, but sometimes that's just how the cookie crumbles.

Giving the seller a bad review is just silly, he could not have predicted this would happen. And once a second hand sale happens (ie: he gave you what you paid for) that is where the seller's obligations end.

As long it was sold as genuine and is genuine, if that is the case then it's a bit tough to blame the seller, if it's fake sold as genuine then that's a different story. Bar tape is typically pretty tough though, even the R15 for 2 rolls foam stuff from eBay has lasted me very well, weird it has done that.

not the sellers problem - you need to moan to the folk who made it or the folk who fitted(used) it somewhere between those two is the answer to the problem

you cant trash a fellow hubber who delivered on a sale of a consumable item

just get new tape - tape tears - life happens - move on

I agree with the comments above, if the tape when wrapped was fine, then this cannot be the Seller's problem....

This should be taken up with the manufacturer and if you cannot get any feedback from them, then, well, you better off getting something else and stop supporting said brand...

Good luck...

I have seen this happen to 2 different bikes using this tape, it flakes badly like that when there is rubbing such a hands or against another bike on a bike rack. Won't use it again. Not the sellers fault.

This is definitely not the sellers problem assuming the product is genuine.

Take it up with whoever installed it or with the manufacturer.

Sometimes Sh!t happens. Like when you get a flat on the first ride on a new tire. Are you going to complain to the person who sold you the tire as well?

You might find it was sitting in storage for a long time before he sold it and deteriorated there... Some sellers might be willing to refund you as a nice gesture but I guess there aren't too many of those. A shop would probably refund/replace so I guess as a seller of a brand new item it is the right thing to do in my opinion but obviously no legal basis for that.

I have had zero issues with mine. I recall them stating on the packaging that the product is not to be stretched excessively when applied - could well be user error in this case as mentioned above.

Hard luck. I was keen for some of that exact blue tape a while ago, glad I didn't go for it.

I don't think lizzard skin is a brand that you get fakes of so I highly doubt the seller sold you a fake.

Was the tape new or used?

It actually says do NOT stretch , as in at all .... I do A little ( tiny bit) when installing but not nearly as much as other tapes ....lizzard skins tape is temperamental
