I don’t see any major wins in his future, sorry. He went to TDD already past his peak speed wise but still had experience/strategy on his side so could still pull off the odd win. I was shocked when they resigned him for 2019.

Don’t get me wrong, I loved watching him in his prime. But these new boys have cranked it up a few notches. He can’t match their power and speed.

Past his peak when he went to TDD? Classic, those 4 stages in the 2016 tour must have been those ‘odd wins’ you’re thinking of.

After leading the London 6 day GC for a while, poor Cav & Owain Doull  ultimately got beat by Viviani & his partner in the final few sprints in the final event of the London 6 Day.

He was not a happy chap, walked out of an interview with the Beebs.after the race, had his super grumpy face on. Owain had to make amends.

Not sure I can picture Cavendish on a Merida, he's picky about his equipment and has become attached to his BMC. Really must be last chance saloon if he had to ditch the BMC for Merida and got to take none of his entourage with him. I guess at least he still has the Monster flatcap and the Nikes to hold on to.

I think NTT must be breathing a sigh of relief that they no longer have to tolerate his personal tastes rather than promoting the team.

Hopefully I am proved wrong and the dog still has bite at BM - at least Ellingworth has hedged his bets.

Good luck Brent.

It's going to be a hell of an interesting sub story running through the 2020 season. Ellingworth is a world class program director and manager. Just listening to him talk about his time at GB cycling and his strategies at Sky are very eye opening and informative.

he did make a mention of how important it was too ride for the kids of Africa, even if he couldn't spell the name of the charity.

Wonder if he will just drop the kids of Africa or now ride for the poor little rich kids of Bahrain?
