Junk miles

Okes hating on the running... It helps with bone density so when you fall off your bike you don't snap every bone in your shoulder like a dry twig.

It helps your body learn to recover while active. It is not limited to roads or trails, it can be done in any weather with very little recourse from parts or expense.

It takes you places you can't go on a bike. Also, if you are running fit, you can probably ride a bike and not be absolutely rubbish, but I've seen cyclists who can't even call their diarrhea the runs.....

Running is awesome.

I said it helps with bone density, which yes, will make your bones stronger, so when you fall you don't snap.

It's a real thing.

For me,

I have a two hour XC circuit from my house. If I ride it hard, it's a training ride. If I ride it "slow but steady" it's a recovery ride. If I ride it very slowly and take photos it's a social ride.

However, if I ride it a bit harder than recovery but not hard enough to be proper training, then it's really just a waste of time. Typically this occurs when my head is not in the right place. I end up doing myself more harm than good and the miles covered are junk miles.

But you do burn calories, which means that you can have another beer.

In my book, and for my age, there are no junk miles.  Each mile has a purpose.

this over analizing of damn detail is what took the fun out of racing for me

"JUNK MILES" are the miles NOT ridden and sitting on your A$$ in front of the TV  :whistling:

Every inch out on the saddle is one extra inch cycled...just ride when possible, do intervals and "gainz" where possible and most important...enjoy every minute my fellow cycling friends.

Are the miles not ridden and sitting in front of bikehub count as junk miles?

Except if it’s not recorded on Strava or some online platform, then it may as well be junk
