A chap with Cavs TdF credentials being left out of a TdF team is always going to spark discussion.

Kinda like you left it alone and shut up about it? I do how people get butthurt about people getting butthurt...

I'm not at all butthurt.

Look at Mark Waugh... He was one of the best in the game at a point, but he got dropped before he retired because he was starting to not be great.

Credentials in the past are just that.

He got dropped because he has sucked massive balls this year and the route doesn't suit him. At all.

Debate away, by all means, but the past is the past. Old greats are just that. The past

I see Cav’s wife is the more outspoken one ????‍♂️. Imagine I dont get a promotion or selected for a special project and my wife goes on like that in public...wonder how long I will bring home a paycheck...the Cav thing getting ugly.

Had a good laugh hearing Lance's take on leaving Cav at home.

It's really simple. You pick a team on form, his results doesnt justify being selected....very similar to our cricket world cup squad and look how that turned out.

Yep and there was zero indication this year that cav would even be able to finish the first mtn stage nevermind win a sprint.

It took very long to extend his contract for this year so I honestly don't think that DDD wanted to extended his contract for but cav couldn't get another ride, so they reluctantly extended.

It is poor form.. This is the same kind of crap that put me off of Froome and Wiggins, their wive's public rants.

Quite a lot of negative publicity for the team on this - its clear it could have been handled better in terms of the initial media release, they should have mentioned Cav and how regrettable it was not to be able to include him etc instead of no mention whatsoever.

Brits in general seem outraged, The Wig and Brian Smith (ex DD team manager who signed Cav and the boys, and I think Ralf) were going OFF about it on Eurosport yesterday with the latter slagging off Doug on air. Maybe its because he was shown the door.

If Cav was so strong he should then easily pick up another team for 2020 and also go on to win races or stages for the remaining season and prove everyone wrong. He won't just lose form. There are lots of races ahead and the Vuelta for him to show his worth.

But instead they close circle have resorted to this which to me going forward for any team thinking of having him for 2020, this would be a red flag.

Very unprofessional behaviour by the Cav camp. Wiggo? I mean Wtf has he been now boom he's an opinion leader lol.

Doug is the boss. Don't like the decision then leave or suck it up buttercup. Aldag leading the negative press is mutiny. Cheers Rolf

We are dealing with human emotions ..... top champions in any sport are very seldom the meek and mild type who just accept things and "go quietly into the night".

A person needs to put him or herself into Cavendish's shoes.... the massive effort that he put in to beat the sickness and to be in a position to try and challenge for the record and then this disappointment. Also the fact that the team selection was obviously not straight forward , in fact the performance director and team principle are now contradicting themselves in the media about the issue. Also the fact that other non - performers were selected for the team.

I am not saying the decision to drop him from the team was wrong but I can understand the reaction of his camp and in some media circles.

There are no winners here and that include Doug Ryder who should have managed this issue much better.

Its clear he has become a liability for the team - and I would say it was a mistake keeping him on this year, but it is what it is and the point is it could have been handled better. The Cycling Podcast guys made this point quite well yesterday.

Wiggo and Cav are tight mates so expected he backs him and so if Rolf. Agree again, Doug makes the call, the others are all signing their exit papers.

To reference another thread, the commentators back the decision. But agree it wasn't good communication.

What race will be next for Cav?

Edit: I also think he is not currently good enough.
