I'm guessing Gaze won't make the whole race. I think Schurter is in with a great chance. The Kross ladies have a chance but Langvad is strong at the moment - second in the Strade Bianche this weekend. Her new partner is super strong too but not experienced on the mountain. Then again this is the Epic and as long as she watches those Landrover Tech Stage videos she should be okay :-)

The beauty of this race is the team dynamic.

In the Womans:

I wont mind seeing Arianne and Maya's legs on the podium every day. I think they are the only other team that can realy rival Songo woman. I think they are both well adapted and wonder how well Van der Breggen will adapt. Also wonder what the weather will be like. It definitely plays a role, some like it hot, and some like it cold.

I am actually hoping Cannondale bad luck has ended.

Also think team vaude will be very close in 4th.

Langvad will dominate them all, just a matter of how well van der breggen will go.

Ditto. Mani has been trying to win it for so long I hope he' paid his dues. He had a great training camp here over December January.

Langvad is strong but the course is a little more technical this year than last so i think Anna may suffer. we know Maya and Arianne can ride tech quite well and they both had a good race at Tour of Good Hope

Yes, AL is rather poor in the tech stuff compared to most of the other pro ladies... needs to eat some humble pie and get some skills coaching like Ariane...:-)

I wonder if the Red Phoenix will be in the Stellies section of the course? Could make for some interesting viewing and perhaps a few bottlenecks...

I also don't see Gaze getting to stage 4. Don't get me wrong, the guy has huge watts and is a strong rider but also plenty of "kop wurms"

Really? Like what?

Former World Champion José Antonio Hermida to Race 2019 Absa Cape Epic

Yeah but the article is about Hermida & Joaquim’s 3rd CE together as a team.

My reply was in response to Jacquers's reply, making it sound like this is the first time Hermida will be riding. Did not read the article much either, they make it sound like it is his 3rd go at the Epic when being an old hand, face and all round funny guy at the Epic.

Hahaha true I also got that impression of the initial post from Jacquerer's

I see that even more money is being pumped into the famous Plum Pudding trail for the prologue. R80k was spent in this area in October/November last year and now its getting a further buffing. This section of trail is hands down the most expensive piece of MTB real estate there is. And its a hiking trail too.

Priorities, priorities.

His temper tantrums when the chips are down are well documented.

I see Nico Bell wihdrew before the announcement of Howard which meant Matt wouldve ridden with Wessel from Team NAD. Then he said he feels healthy enough and took the spot after Matt was partnered with Alan. I see this morning he has withdrawn again and now Gawie and Wessel will represent Team NAD.
