Think I have said it before on here, Beyond burgers are very very good. I am just not convinced about how healthy they are, they are super processed. But it is “guilt free” to a degree if that’s what matters.

Have you tried the impossible burger patty yet?

I suspect its a little different by virtue of being in fast food type small burgers but I'm just interested if they're on par with beyond.

R129.99 this side at Woolies. Definitely keen to try them.

We've been buying from Herbi Vohr recently. (https://herbivohr.wixsite.com/herbivohr)

Really impressed with the pulled pork and pastrami. Great for wraps, sandwiches, and pizza.

The biltong is pretty spot on too. Keen to try the bacon. Avoid the steak though. It's really weird.

The biltong is great, the bites/sticks (?) I forget the name now, difficult to come by, but are absolutely delicious.

I agree, we don't know how processed it is. The boyond burger does have a healthy protein source but is equally loaded with fat just like a real beef patty.

Maybe it's the fat in food that makes it tasty.

My brother and his wife has gone plant based recently. A whole box of Herbivore products arrived here yesterday. At first I thought it was the same as what you mentioned, but nope. Different site.

Might be worth checking out. They bought mince and wors. I can't comment on the taste though, as I'm only the middleman with a freezer that holds it for them.

Ah ok. We order from VeganThings.co.za

Anything you recommend there? One thing I do find being vegan/vegetarian is the lack of something to chuck in a sandwich if you are in a hurry or want something to take with you to work etc....I usually make a 'meatloaf' with soya mince, mashed up beans, fried up onion, peppers and mushrooms and normal Tiger oats....mix it all up with some veg stock and bake in a banana loaf tin....I use that as a sandwich filling.

The pastrami with some baby spinach, tomato, and basil pesto makes a great sandwich.

For meals I don’t like to do a “one pot” dish.

We do a lot of Mexican dishes, wraps, pizzas, curries etc and I love to cook. Ingredients are layered together and meals are assembled instead of just mixed together and dishes up.

Fish actually makes up maximum one meal a week for me. I am very close to switching to plant based entirely. Just need to find a good alternative to cheese. Milk was easy with soya milk from Milklab. Eggs don’t feature too often. Less than once a week.

Discovering herbivohr and frys etc made it a lot easier.

That sounds like the business!

I’ve tried the patties before but for everything else it’s Linda McCarhy or Fry’s

Fry's is fine but gets very dry if you try and braai it.

We use a lot of their products and once you get used to the quirks its still really good.
