Unbelievable Support from Giant

So, yesterday the frame of my 2014 Anthem X 29er snapped on the top tube whilst out riding. I was worried about the warranty as I bought the bike in SA and am now in Ireland.

Phoned Giant UK this morning, they told me to take it into a Giant retailer. So I dropped it at a bike shop around 11am, without much of an expectation. At 3pm, my phone rang and the lad from the bike shop asked me to check my email to make sure that I was happy with the colour frame that I was getting as a replacement. He also was apologising on behalf of Giant that there would be a delay on the frame. Turns out they are replacing my frame with a 2016 one and the delay is 5 days because they have to ship from Amsterdam.

1st world problems.

Imagine being on the arse end of Africa, when shipping a bike from Holland to SA takes a little longer.

Giant has had a good reputation for honouring their warranties for many years. Great to have it confirmed again.

Saw that pic you posted. That was some serious failure though. Did it happen mid ride? Could have been nasty

My experiences with Giant International have been excellent. My experiences with Giant agents in SA have been utterly woeful to say the least.

Mid ride. Just hit a small bump and heard an almighty clonk.

I have had 2 frames crack at that point - both replaced and riding within a week.

Some people might argue that it was a crap design if so many frames broke at the same place. Both times ended up getting a bit of an upgrade, so apart from the slight PITA, it was a good experience.
