Every time this thread goes quite and then someone gets it going again I get butterflies in my stomach.

you should have kept your mouth closed cycling last week. those butterflies dont offer much nutritional value.  :w00t:

Pretty sure it's just after Tour De PPA. That usually counts towards CTCT seeding.

last year we received our seedings before the Tour de PPA. I know they gave some bonus points towards your CTCT seeding if you entered Tour de PPA

So on Sunday at the top of Suikerbossie a crew pulled up under the shade trees. One of them riding an e-bike. I still jested about the oke on his motorcycle, and one of his crew chirps that he (e-biker) nearly died a few months back. At the top of Chappies, the same crew pull up again behind us, and we get chatting. Turns out that 6 or so months ago this fellow had a pulmonary embolism, which very nearly ended him. He was in critical care for 15 days, and his riding days were well and truly behind him on all accounts. He said he was saddened that after 25 Argus' he was hanging up his cycling boots. Enter e-bike, and I have seldom seen a man smile so broadly about being back in the saddle.

Sir, I never got your name, but I salute you. You are an inspiration to many, and long may you still cycle.

LOL sharp. Luckily I personally never swallowed any but my pool did. Cleaned out the weir and pool skim yesterday, plenty with wings in there.

When it goes quiet like it did, I like to start it up again haha.

As can be seen by the whole extra page added since I last commented

thanks for sharing. We often pass all kinds of judgement on e-bike riders, but often there's a back story.

So I see we are having no "Lunch with Dave" this year, so obviously they are comfortable in the knowledge that they have no worries to address this year like they have the last 2 years.

I just want my seeding already.

Wouldn't that be the same as every year? Or don't the racing tandems get seeded separately anymore?

They do still get seeded on their own. Years gone by it was a given I would be racing tandems. But last 2 years I have only done the CTCT so my seeding has dropped big time. I did a 3H28 last year so I am not sure if that is good enough especially as it is my last seeding race done. Even last year I was worried as I had done a 2H55 in 2018 but nothing after that but luckily I still made it. I have done a little bit more training this year(but still not enough to do a sub 3) so given equal race day conditions I should do a better time but that means nothing if you don't race and get a seeding. Last few years they have capped the racing tandems at about 30 so lets hope there is space for me.

Check how the racing has reduced and times gotten slower. First kid arrived Nov 2015.

EDIT: Only done CTCT and the short ride for sight.

Well.... I've always wondered what it would be like to do the Argus on a mountain bike. Now I'll find out. Sold my road bike last night.

This will be my first one on anything BUT a mountain bike (except for my very first in 1989)
