Hi guy which insurance company is the best to insure my MTB?

WELCOME to the Hub Hulky

Have a look at these :

some common threads through these threads ....

- get a decent broker

- CONFIRM if the bike is to be insured for "book" or "replacement" value ... insurance companies differ on this.

- Make sure of extras you want to insure, and get these specified on the policy ....

- MOST policies requires "proof of forced theft" before considering a claim, ie a cut chain etc ....

JaSure.. question. How do you know that the insurance was turned on Before the claim? Surely timelines are with the user who could easily adjust this to suit their claim?

Very valid question. How would they know if I damage my bike today, but activate the insurance tomorrow and claimed it happened then?

I am tempted to give this a go though. Where I live the risk of my bike being stolen or hijacked is very low, so I just can't justify paying a couple hundred bucks every month for insurance I would rarely need. It would be cool to activate insurance only when I go to town for a couple of days and I take my bike with.

Burnt my fingers before ....

Seen friends burn their fingers ....

I only work via a real life broker !

I quick search suggest this is a "sub-division" of Santam ...

I have been with Santam for decades .... BUT, experience has taught me to ONLY work with them via a broker !!!

Unfortunately we can’t divulge specifics online regarding our fraud mitigation measures.

From a customer perspective, we have a scheduling function where you can preselect days and your cover will switch on and off automatically. You can also choose to leave your cover on all the time at a competitive rate depending on your cover needs.

We all see the posts of stolen bikes .... MANY are stolen AT HOME ...

not much use in having part time cover ....

Either the rate is competative or it is not ...

Just as a reference .... R150 per month for a R50k bike .... R190 per month for a R82k bike .... for proper full time cover

That sounds fairly good. Cheapest I could get for my bike (R70k replacement value) was between R400 and R500 with Outsurance.
