it seems this might actually even happen, so let's have a dedicated thread.

for MTB qualifying is over and countries taking slots and team selections will be the order of the day.

this appears to be updated as we speak(9 times today already) - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cycling_at_the_2020_Summer_Olympics_–_Qualification#Mountain_biking

We could have up to 10 riders there, BUT doubt SASCOC will select so many.

Haven't kept up with our road scene at all , do we have someone that could challenge for a medal ?

As much chance as the DA will have to win the next general election in SA.

Dlamini likely our best shot at the medals but then also not.

Course looks like a climbers/allrounders course so its in the Bernal/Pidcock/MVDP/WVA/Julien Alaphillipe territory.

I don' thin the men have a hope in hell of a medal but I'd still send at least two for representation and their proffessional development

Ai  , I give Alan atleast 30% for A bronze

I was referring to Road only. Alan certainly has an outside chance for bronze imo too.

33.333% actuall

I think he's a serious contender. He looks to be peaking at the right time and his results are improving. He's outracing Brasil's best chance at the moment so he's more a contender than not. Ranked 9th in the UCI world rankings at the moment. He's almost right in there. We can but dream of Gold

If you can keep yourself in the mix, anything can happen.

Meintjes rocked up with just Impey and got a 7th in Rio 22sec down, (granted with a top10 at TdF that year).

olympics always seems to be a weird road race
