***Caution: the following information may trigger the Cupcakes amongst us***

The Apple watch is like a Mini Cooper. Aesthetically, not for guys, hey.

i also wear pink, i think the mini clubman is a cool car and enjoy a pink drink every now and then. I have many gay friends and have been their escorts to clubs for fun, I like a romcom on a Friday night and have feminine hands according to my wife.

I also listen to Metal, like star wars, have laid thousands of bricks and mixed many cubes of concrete, plumbed and wired whole houses on my own.  I can grow a beard, I drink beer and I don't have to brag about anything down there either because i have big feet.

i do what i want.

😁

1 watch the battery died within the warranty period

2nd watch the connector to charge it never really plugged in very well, always takes me 5 mins to make it charge I actually bought a couple more cables and out of the 3 cables I have only one charges the watch now, but I'm never sure I will manage to get it to charge everytime. Good thing is you don't need to charge it that often.

Both watches take for ever to connect to satellites, but overall except for the problems above work reasonably well.

The Edge, first one was turning off every time I'd hit a pothole and would never turn back on again until I plugged it, bit silly for a bike computer that is sold as MTB specific (air time, flow, grit...). I had to do a MTB marathon completely blind because of it, not knowing how far in (time or distance) I was. Not ideal.

The replacement unit never wanted to pair with any of the phones in the house, only syncs via cable or wifi (so when I'm not home it's via phone personal hotspot). Also navigation never works, wether it's from a pre-made route (it takes me to random places, says off route when I'm on the route, wants me to start by the finish....) or if I ask it to calculate a route to go back to start point (calculation always fails).

Calling someone an idiot without calling him an idiot, nice

It sounds like you have the same luck with Garmin devices that I have with Ford Rangers.

Fortunately my old Polar watch still does  everything I want,, so whenever I start looking at Garmins, and balk at the price, I stick with the Old Faithful. Sometimes its tough being snoep if your not really a gadget guy.

My wife had an apple watch, and was always worried about the screen being exposed. When the screen popped out and apple declined the warranty, she switched to garmin. We've been hesitant about Apple watches after that.

There is no ‘luck’ with ford’s though, only inherent ford DNA🤗

Apple threads are so predictable.

Q: hey guys do you think the iNewGadget is a good product?

People: dunno, specs look decent but let's what and see.

Fanboys: you morons are so ignorant, it's made by Apple, of course it will be amazing! Why are you even wondering, go back to your holes.

Yes. Im inclined to agree. And blame it on their quality control.

But then my father's fords has been doing the same work, for longer, and never had a days hassle. Maybe it's the squishy bit between the seat and the steering wheel? Like you get people with hassle free Garmins, and people with three duds in a row. Or maybe my old man is the outlier?

Either way, I'm switching to Isuzu.

I jest but ill also ad that my father in law has a 99 ranger with 300k km on it and it is still going strong…although a bit rusty and it literally feels like driving a tractor.

You conveniently missed a step though..fits in at ‘people’ 😅.

there are ALWAYS two sides to the mudslinging argument like there is here again. And it always starts with ‘people’ and their insecurities about what OTHER people spend their money on lol. Its the same as that dead horse that frequented the petition thread regarding people who sell 250k bicycles a week after purchase.
At the end of the day i guess you can only take advice/opinion from someone who uses everything and can give an objective opinion. All i said is you cant take an opinion of any apple product seriously if said product is used in isolation. It wont give you the full/best experience. Everything else is also just subjective fanboyism .

Nobody else does it like them. NOBODY. You can say what you want. Thats what a closed system with software/hardware gets you.

I get what you are saying, but as much as I love apple hardware and operating systems, i still use google suite for productivity (vs Apple mail, calendar, docs, numbers etc), Spotify (vs Apple Music), Netflix (vs Apple +) and especially GarminConnect and Strava (vs Apple Health).

The featureless Apple Health is the most relevant for me and the single reason why buying any Apple Watch does not make sense. Before they make a single device improvement (although I’m still scratching my head on how they think 36hrs is good enough for battery life), they need to look at allowing Garmin connect integration or a serious improvement on apple health metrics.

The fanboys getting touched on their studios with Apple threads is actually more predictable. Can't believe I missed that chestnut.

On this topic of manliness - @Matt can we not get a thumbs up emoji instead of this blue heart?

I have to say, it feels a bit weird sharing blue hearts with other blokes and then putting on my lycra for a ride.

Garmin make awesome devices. Apple make awesome devices. I use both for different purposes and rate them awesome in different ways. Both have a reputation for standing behind their products and for constant innovation, so device choice can be down to personal preference, preferred ecosystem, personal use case etc.

I always laugh though when folks think that rubbishing another product somehow will make their choice seem better. There’s plenty of preferences out there and each person makes their own choice.

One of the best posts I have read on this forum for a long while.
Well said sir (or mam).

Eat what you like, drink what you like, ride road, ride gravel, ride mountain, pick a wheel size you like, and pick the watch you like.

An opinion is like a ****. Great to have, lovely to behold, but don't shove it down people's throats.

I'm just confused about which side I'm supposed to pick since my wrist has a Suunto on it.
