Longer race for the elites, especially elite ladies? 🙏

We’re gonna get nothing, at best they taking a climb off of the course 😅😅

Imagine the crowds in groups 2 through 4 on those narrow twists. Lots of low speed derailleur bending topple overs.

As an aside .... Next municipal election I vote for any party that undertakes to resurface red hill

If they’re seriously considering adding a shorter option then that just shows how the demand has decreased. I personally dont think this is the right move but let’s wait for the official announcement before jumping to conclusions.

"Short and sweet" already says what's coming. I too have mixed opinions if this is the announcement, on the 1 hand yes it will appeal to more casual cyclists on the other hand you supposed to work towards the 109 thats the idea. I guess this is the fallout after covid, these events need entries they need the funds to host future events

Personally they messed up with that late fee they wanted to charge, probably pissed off alot of people with that one

Much easier to do a sub3 if they shorten the route

For some reason the casual athletes seem to be more interested in the more extreme events than in the easier ones, so don’t really see how a shortened route is supposed to bring more entries

In my small circle of friends I already have 4 who are scared about the 109 (new to cycling)

We might not agree on a shorter route but there certainly is a market for one

A shorter route is a brilliant plan! Not everybody can ride in the Pro-Am World Champs and complete a 109km race. A shorter route gives more people a chance to experience what 'racing' is about and also experience the scenery and atmosphere. I am all for a shorter route.

Two of my MTB riding buddies may consider doing the shorter route.

They are totally scared off by the thought of 100+km .... both of them do 60+km difficult MTB routes though.  Just keeping a relaxed pace they could easily complete the 109km, just the thought of the 100+km that scares them off.

Me .... looking forward to my 2nd 109km

Man it will create so much #gees. It will give every pro fun rider the Alpe d’Huez experience

It’s supposed to at least be an achievement to complete an Argus. Make it under 100 and basically anyone can do it.

Also, why announce this now? Surely they would’ve had this in the works for a while now. Why not just do it when entries opened?

If this move actually happens, I feel like the DC would then overtake the Argus as the premier event in the western cape. At least for me it would.
