what I find most concerning regarding this thread, is that no one has mentioned the Rouxtjie rule.

which effectively means that the whole sale, nevermind the "lowball" offer should have been ignored.

What did the bike sell for eventually?

Low ball offers is obviously very subjective. I am currently looking around for a entry to mid range older road bike to ride the CTCT with. MTB gets heavy. See so many varying specs, condition vs price. Some of these adds are up for three months(still for sale) but not budging on price because it has 105. Yes it has a nine speed from two decades ago. That is why it is not selling.

WTF does Low-Ball mean anyway?

why is it so special the B gets capitals?

"Low-Ball" refers to the testicle hanging lowest in the scrotum. "High-Ball" obviously refers to the top one. No need to explain why it needs to be in caps, they are THAT special.

Not cycling related but 2 weeks ago I advertise my golf clubs, brand new bag and extras for R6500.

Last night someone comes thru after agreeing on R5000. He then proceeds to point out every nick on the club heads. Now these clubs are in a great condition well looked after cleaned and polished after every use, and I hit the ball clean off the deck with least possible amount of grass being sliced off. So you nicks are barely there. He then further wants to pay another R800 less. LOL, I just laughed, said no and goodbye. The guy took nearly an hour to get to me, so all his petrol wasted.

I need to raise this old topic again as it continues relentless. I was just offered less than 30% of my advertised price by James from Bikemarket.co.za. I notice over and over again how Hubbers have mentioned the lowballing from this company and their radiculous offers. I left messages on Bikehub and with his staff to phone me, to which I have recieved no response. There are 7 hubbers who have mentioned it this year in the ratings alone and that is just those that have taken the time to rate the offers. Something seriously needs to be done about this guy and the organization. This is the grossest of exploitation.

Or you could just say "no thank you" and move swiftly along. 👌

Any interest from James is a great signal that you are selling something sellable - ignore the offer. Im surprised at your discontent, you are a well known trader, isnt this just business? (PS Bough my first road bike from you)

Thanks guys for the responses. As a long time Hubber I just think that I have a responsibility as have others who have highlighted this issue to provide an awareness to others who maybe exploited by the likes of Bikemarket.co.za. Yes this was and is a personal issue but I do know that quite often people who are in compromised positions or situations of pressure are easily exploited. On another note this does no good for the reputation of the industry and people like James need to be exposed for who they are and what their, "business", strategies are. I have given him every opportuinty to speak to me without reply before I resurected this very lengthy previous post. I reiterate that I am not alone in my frustrations and feel the need to bring this issue to the fore yet again.

Buy low, sell high..... Seems like a reasonable business strategy to me.

'The Grossest of exploitation' ..... sjoe. I'd say that people who underpay their house staff, gardeners and bread line staff are a far bigger, more grotesque, common issue that I'm sure some people hating on James are guilty of

Seriously, get over it

He isn't stealing, he isn't scamming, he isn't forcing anyone to do anything. He is offering a value to something that he is comfortable offering to turn it into financial gain.

The Grossest of exploitation...... It really is very, very far from that.

I got ChatGPT to imrpove James's message - think BikeMarkets tact could be improved to be less offensive:
