So you paid 30k presume secondhand as you had a major service.  Added a few extras grips probably most expensive item as it is first on your list. Now you selling at 32k trying to recover your total cash outlay.

R30k + major service + Brand New SRAM NX 1x12 kit (chain, cassette, shifter, csixx chainring), grips and guard, I'm also adding an extra set of new grips (same as on the bike), and as stated R32k neg.

Please lock the thread, I'm quite over this now to be honest.

Again an empty can rattling in the wind... why comment if you don't even have any context as to the item in question? Everything is stated in my add, not going to waste my time entertaining this open drain of a comment to be honest.

How did you come about your price?

Ok so it was 1x12 as you never replaced the derailleur.  The new kit and a service in my mind don't add 2k value to the bike it is the same 30k 1x12 bike. The extras are value to you but the mudgard would be the first thing i bin if i was the buyer.

People or a buyer can offer whatever they want or seen the bike is worth to them. It’s up to you as the seller to accept it or not.

I don’t think pointing the person out on here is right cause he made an offer you got emotional about. If you don’t ask, you don’t get.

Time will tell wether you sell at your price or wether 15k less was the better deal.

I too ask for a better selling price 99% of the time, BUT, defintely won't have the audacity to offer R14k less on a R32k asking price. 😂

Try selling your car to we buy cars 😂. Fact is low balling is a norm if you trying to resell it or just looking for the best possible price period.

All that I would do is reply with "no" or don't reply at all.

You could probably go to any reputable car dealer and get the same. If you go to Ford and buy a car for 100k take it home and slap on new tyres for 10k give it a service for 10k. Will that Ford dealer buy the car back a month later for 120k? I think he might offer you 70k if you lucky.

This is true hehe. Fact is low balling is normal as everyone is just trying to pay the lowest possible price.

As a seller you should know you will get low balled and just not entertain it without being abit rude in my opinion.

If people not following your business principles/ethics makes you negative then you are in for a rough ride. I am still learning how to handle this myself, but sometimes you realize the unfair deal in your view might be the best deal because it is available.

Options are always good to have: I would rather get a low ball offer (be it valid due to affordability or from a chancer - who cares) than no offer, eventually cash is worth more than an unused bike aging in the garage in my view. It remains your choice based on your situation eventually.

My bad, the derailleur is also new, so to be clear... full new drivetrain other than BB and cranks.

Not sure why my asking price is the focus of this thread now? You seem to have missed the part where I said price is NEGOTIABLE...but again, in my moral code there is a difference between say, neg within a few grand of asking, vs. low-balling R14k off the asking price.

I obviously want to try get the most I can, hence I start higher than what I expect to get.

Hey, i understand your side completely.  But maybe a little more info on the bike would help your point. A scott 970 like yours would probably retail around 20/23k. You got the bike from Leon who was or may still be involved with bike market Lynnwood so your good deal was probably as a result of a lowball offer to start.

Buyers want to pay as little as possible so start with what may appear to be a low-ball offer... sometimes there's common ground somewhere in the middle if willing to talk and get to that point.
