If it were me, I’d probably go for something Gravel-ish, woth some generous tyre clearance. This is available for $1599 (frame, fork and headset).

If not that, then probably a Ti-frame, so spoilt for choice with three good local builders. Luckily I’m not in the market, so don’t have to think too hard.

Keen to learn who the 3 good local builder are, thanks

Chris

Get Dave Mercer to build you a custom frame with Columbus 100 year Centenary tubeset, Columbus Carbon fork. Finish it of with a custom paint job by Jared at BMC. It will be an amazing ride and it will be one of a kind. Not like all the other mass produced tupperware.

What is the ballpark amount for a Mecer road bike frame ?

And for his MTB frames ?

And what.might a 61cm road bike weigh?

I don't know if Dave builds barn doors........

Throw on a light carbon fork, some nice carbon wheels and modern groupset and the extra weight will only really matter if you decide to 'race' something under cooked.

You're getting old now. Embrace mid pack and ride a better bike
