I was planning on taking my MTB out for its maiden voyage today but we have constant driving rain since last night and I did want its first ride to be in a complete mudbath... next weekend its on.

I was so lucky on Saturday.Doing my LSD ride I spotted the spoor of a Lesser Spotted Mountain Biker.Whilst I was never able to see the elusive creature, just knowing that he or she had been there was very special.attachicon.gif20140927_091513.jpg

Attention, attention......please send proof through to Fish Hoek's expert zoologist Dr. Dale Kenmuir.......maybe he can provide a valued opinion on this rare species.

Skinny wheels are fun......especially when they mounted on a steel frame

Good fun to ride if you are a natural born athlete ... But less fun if you are a born couch potato trying to keep up.

Next time I take the scooter and then we can check how good the steel bike can keep up.

Went to ride the cradle mtb track ( first attempt a week earlier had me a broken seat bolt right at the beginning of the track - rode back to avianto standing like a man all the way har har)post-24416-1411973343,7664.jpg

Then yesterday, good 'ol avianto, but the wind and the heat (only started my ride at 11) made for a very tough ride

I also had a "moment" where my bike ejected me around a tight uphill switchback, luckily there was some dry thornbush branches to catch me

Next time we climb more .

Two things:

1. I have never been to suikerbos rand

2. Or we can do a east rand ride of 100+ km with only 300m of climbing.

1. Plenty time for that.

2. No, the ascent will be more.

Not if we start at the M&B in the east rand or at escapees possie maybe Dipsy would also join then.
