One of my fave SA born musos, and also an avid cyclist, Gregory Alan Isakov is based in that neck of the woods.

Edit:  Also, his latest is on BBC Radio’s list of albums of the year.

Nice Dassie!

As a matter of interest I believe one of the Joburg regulars was on a graffiti tour with my mate big Thys the spray painter recently ... and a bit of a chat

Come on who was it?

Yep - Boulder is a stones throw from me.

I see he’s playing Red Rocks in September.  Maybe I’ll pop in 😏

Just out and about and I was asked recently, so what do you think about when you're spending all that time riding on your own?

After some thought I can say that I've stopped trying to solve the world's problems, those days are long gone they can solve their own! What I generally do is calculate how far at what average speed in the time I have available and what route to take ....

This morning though I recalled being told by my now ex son in law, whom I still have an excellent relationship with and who happens to have been an excellent road and track cyclist

'Very few people can really push a 53x11 and you're probably not one of them' .... 'yes when you're going downhill you might roll out that gear but that probably has more to do with gravity than your legs'

At the time I was pretty peeved but over the years I have learnt that he was right 🫣

Now some of you may disagree but give it time .....

Your thoughts while you ride, if you ride alone that is 😎

Even on club rides, I have thoughts. I’m a listener when riding, while others are talkers. Doesn’t mean I’m always listening, as I might be deep in thought.

What ya thinkin’ about when riding? Anything and everything. Often think of something, then forget it when I’m home, but then remember it again on the bike. That horrible cycle can continue unless I stop and make a note.
