I am speechless. If this was my daughters husband, there is no way in hell I would bail him out of this. The fact that the father in law has refunded you does make this tool innocent. He is still guilty.

This is why he keeps getting away with his tricks, because his family bail him out. They are now just as complicit as him.

I concur with the last couple of posts.

To the in-laws:

You are doing more harm than good by bailing him out. He needs to "own" his life choices. If you bail him out once, be sure he will come a begging again soon for the next bail-out. Just ask his immediate family members, they will give some real-life context.

Restitution is good when it comes from a genuine place, NOT when it is linked to the kind of conditions that is being mentioned. Pay Belinda what is due to her, but leave it to her to decide what to do thereafter.

Have others not covered for past misdeeds already?  There's a vague recollection of his parents forking out to repay irate clients.  If that's the case I find it shameful, even more so for a guy approaching 40.

I’m assuming his parents have pulled the plug or have simply run out of funds. Not hard when they’re probably retirement age and have depleted whatever savings they had baling out their grown-a$$ son for the past however many years while he’s been living the grand life.

As someone partially financially responsible for both sets of parents (mine and in-laws) in their old age, through no fault of their own (Steinhoff being one reason) and seeing the shame and guilt they feel that they can’t fully support themselves after a lifetime of honest, hard graft and saving, I find his actions deplorable. He clearly has even less shame than I thought he did and we’re now in the negatives of shame. That he walks among us. Disgusting.

This thread is 10yrs old this week. It is by respected journalist Tony Weaver who was one of the unfortunates dropped by the "wood fetching" incident. They had to scramble and make their own plans when the fully organised trip appeared to be a pack of cards.

I believe he was refunded by Taun's parents in this instance.

Quite incredible to run scams for a full 10yr and not be either:

* in jail

* super rich.

A Scumbag like Taun would probably rip his own parents off aswell with investment scams or whatever. I'd put nothing past him.

That’s what kills me.. it’s a lot of money.. it’s suuuch a dificult one.. 😭😭 right now I wouldn’t be in a position to turn the “refund” it away so I get it.. 😭😭

The money has been long ago promised to private detective should they succeed in getting Taun brought to book. So, ironically this refund was not in his best interest 🤔🤟

Taun Bewsher/ Cederberg UltraMtb Update: I have been refunded my 8K by Taun's father-in-law. I explained to him that I was uncomfortable taking his money and that I would rather wait for Taun to refund me along with all the others when his new overseas business venture takes off. I am now under pressure to remove my posts here and on FB. Which morally I can't actually agree to do.

I still have no proof of any fire that caused our Cederberg cycle trip to be cancelled last minute, nor proof that "Mike Walters" ever existed. I do however have a letter from my bank explaining that this was a "Goods Scam"...

Any way you look at it, it's a bribe. You were probably chosen to buy off as you were the most vocal in getting this scammer exposed.

Ultimately, are you willing to sell your soul for R8000? That is the uncomfortable question that only you can answer.

For what it's worth, I salute you for being at the forefront in getting this scammer exposed, and in doing so, probably saving others from similar financial losses in the future.

Lest not forget, he has convinced so many people that he is a sincere character, just look at his wife's naivety. How can someone be sure that his poor parents arent fooled in a similar fashion?

You have my sympathy Belinda. I wish you the best in making this decision. Dealing with sociopaths is extremely mentally taxing. Been there, got the t-shirt.

The decision to move forward is yours and yours alone. However what they have done should not come with terms and conditions. They never would have gotten involved not be for this thread. He probably wouldn't have been arrested either. You have support and help here. Be it that admin will leave this up, then it is a warning to future dealings with this person that he is not what he says he is. So much constructive discussion has been removed that I doubt this will last long. But for future victims let's hope this stays here. Well done Belinda.

It might be that Tuan's wife believes Belindaa has a personal vendetta against him. With the father in law refunding the money, and not removing said posts it might be a strategy to say this is the case, we refunded and she still persists, so it has to be personal.

And how does she ignore all the others that has "something personal" against TB?

It takes a very special person, and very special in-laws, to ignore 10 years worth of "issues" ....
