You clearly did the correct and mature thing in not dealing with a rude and belligerent hubber,I have no time for alcohol abusers as they'd rather blame the alcohol or other people than themselves, well done on selling your item to a more deserving person.

You're clearly a friend of the sellers if you're taking his position alone on this and ignoring mine (with evidence).

wow, we're beyond page 3 on this and it's still only Tuesday.

@Matt must be in Montagu quaffing muscadel, wait till he gets some signal.

Also,  pretty sure posting WA convos without removing the oke's name/details is a minor naughty boy list offence too.

If anything, the buyer made the mature choice by acknowledging his position and wanted to make sure he was in a clear state of mind before concluding the deal.

And having a drink here and there or being “tipsy” as described is no reason to call someone an “alcohol abuser”.

I will also refrain from doing business with the seller, he clearly stated he would give the buyer first choice and then, mere hours later sold it elsewhere. He should have at least informed the person he gave first option on that there was another interested party.
Clearly not someone whose word can be taken at face value, I would be hesitant to trust items that he sells. I also don’t like dealing with people who say one thing and then do another.

"It is possible that Matt, or one of his staff in his absence, has reviewed this thread. The buyer and seller sit squarely on either side of the fence that Admin has created in the interest of a safe classifieds environment. The rating should stand, as the seller clearly didn't conduct himself in a professional manner. There is likely more to this than just a WhatsApp message or two, and one could argue that although a sale was not concluded, there may still have been an agreement to transact; therefore, the rating should remain."

Reviews help to build a platform of trust on Bike Hub. To protect the integrity of the review system and ensure reviews are useful and informative, we require all reviews to adhere to our policy:
1. Reviews may only be added where a
sale happened or a firm agreement was
in place As per our Terms of service: User reviews should only be submitted where an agreement to transact exists or a transaction was concluded on Bike Hub. We reserve the right to remove feedback that relates to negotiations or
communications where there was no agreement and/or a transaction did not take place or relates to a transaction not initiated via Bike Hub

True Scott, many sellers on Bikehub act like they're doing you a favour but it's a 50/50 mutual transaction which they don't seem to understand and don't communicate properly with the buy or display the item properly or correctly.

Hi all,

We've removed the review. Our review policy requires that a sale was concluded or a firm agreement was in place. While there was clear interest and a commitment to share info, strictly speaking there was no sale agreement here.

That said, removing a review on technical grounds doesn't mean we approve of the behaviour that led to it. Ghosting a buyer you've made commitments to is not how we want people conducting themselves on Bike Hub.

We've seen a few unnecessarily heated exchanges between buyers and sellers this week over largely petty issues. This one spilled into a review and a public thread, but the message applies to everyone: some common decency goes a long way.

Honour your commitments. At minimum, communicate when plans change.

This is how I feel about it too. The order also matters. If a buyer exhibits behavior I disapprove of after I've given them my word, then I'd be OK with going back on it. It's new information. But if I gave them my word in spite of this/after the fact, then it's on me to honor that. And if a 3rd party contacts me in the mean time saying "I can be at your house in 20 minutes with the cash" then I would give the original buyer a deadline, just to be sure he keeps his word too.
