Is Getting Asked R400 for Wash and Lube and Indexing reasonable?

It's about the going rate. Bike shops often call it a basic service. A wash and a lube. 

Personally, I would rather do it myself. I am too cheap to pay R400

Personally .... when you properly clean your bike it gives the opportunity to give it a GOOD check .... do that regularly and you KNOW when which components are nearing end of life ..

 

Heck, the lube at the end of all of this is a few seconds ....

Cycling is PD. If I had to pay R400 each time the 3 bikes in my household is washed, lubed and indexed, I'd be even more bankrupt.

Indexing…… Is that like showing someone / your bike the finger? 

Personally I’d only do this while I’m riding, not after a bike wash and lube

Commoner .... R50 bucks, per tyre, extra for inflating with nitrogen ....more constant pressures at a wider temperature range .....

 

And dont be misled about the 78% nitrogyn in air ....

I took my bike to the LBS for a intermediate service two weeks ago. The rear hub needs replacing and due to stock it wasn't done. I was eventually charged R175 for wash and lube service only.
