Maritz REALLY impressed me today !!!

Been a while since we have done the climb up the hill at Meerendal.  I asked if he wanted to do the ride over the dam-wall, or do the climb .... he wants to climb, and so we turn left .....

He really did WELL.  And then I would pull up next to him, right hand on his back and help him up further.  THAT is one sure way to get a decent workout !!

Seems he has some snake in him ... every so often he would drop his shoulders and push those pedals to catch other riders

Then he wanted to have some fun at the pump track.  Even started standing up over the small humps ....

First time for everything ... even for me to BURP .... misjudged a little rainwater channel .. thankfully the small pump did manage to pump up the wheel ....

After a "refuel" we did the loop over the dam wall ... he even did his first "single track downhill run" ....  (thanks to the gent that patiently waited the last bit for Maritz to finish this.

It was a nice BUSY day on the trail.  LOTS of casual riders out for a relaxing ride .... NICE vibe !

From young vineyards to ripe grain ... WHAT A VIEW !!

And then it was time for Maritz to do a single track ....

And each ride he lifts his speed just a bit .... even with all those hills we averaged 11km/h ...

And then it was time to PLAY -

If you can get a bike this dirty -  :whistling:

Then you do your bit to help wash it -

Maritz actually DO help to wash the bike, though he got of the step and was the one to take the photo

And then it was time to wash my bike ....

Nice morning out ....

Suns out guns out

It's so good to see you teaching them from a starter age to wear a helmet. We've got this 14 year old who's father rides with us and he refuses to wear a lid on his pip, I have told them many times that I don't want to have it on my conscious when he happens to have a fall and he ends up badly hurt. My own daughter will not ride without her pip lid anymore because I'm so freaked out about wearing it. Now he says that he will wear one if it is one of the enduro lids because it looks cool and none of his 3 lids are cool enough [emoji35][emoji34][emoji849]. Today's youth [emoji850]

Wifey's old bike now does duty to go riding with BabyFace.

We can't find a helmet that fits her tiny head, so the rides have been limited to the parking lot and street in front of our house.

Can't wait to go riding on the beachroad in Franskraal with her.

This was last weekend. The singletrailer has opened up new opportunities for me to go out with my wife and 10month old. Suspension works so well its not uncommon for me to look back to see him snoozing away. Dirt paths/jeep track and quiet neighbourhoods for now. So far so good.

Yeah, its pretty easy convincing him to wear a helmet when its saved his pip about 9 times.

He probably needs a full face, he hardly ever has skin on his chin

 That brought back some memories - when mine were about that age we did a ride in Jonkershoek (gotta bring them up right eh?). The older one rode with me and did a face plant that left him grazed from head to toe. I coaxed him back onto the bike and back to the car by promising to fix it all with My Magic Mercurochrome. The younger one rode with my wife and crashed just as badly. She coaxed him along and back to the finish by promising him the Biggest Slice of Chocolate Cake he could eat........the difference between mothers and fathers! :whistling:  :D
