This was the first tea party on the route. It would become a familiar scene.

This was a much more pleasant scene at the finish :D

Funny how Africa is always wailing about itself and on how short changed it is. Cries for things and when they are given to it, it contrives ways to f@ck it up!!!! Hence why the Dakar is now in South America and the Tour of SA in Pitcairn probably. They would no doubt do a better job as they are not located on the hopless continent!

There aren't any male Fletchers left to marshal it! :o

What puzzles me is that a Radioa Station can work with the authorities to organise a 20,000 cyclist race throughout JHB, Randburg, 4ways etc for the whole day, CSA cannot organise a 150 cyclist race that would have a huge positive outcome if successful. Watching Tili on Suprtcycling on Teusday, I thought to myself, this guy cannot be in charge of cycling in SA as he does not even look the part. The Stev Tshwete of cysling.

Not quite. The 94.7 is the property of Harford Sports Promotions. 94.7 are a sponsor.

Apparently a lack of Metro Police presence and the disregard of the Sandton motorists to obey the race officials resulted in the stopping of the stage   . I was all camped out on Sandton Drive looking forward to some good racing

cant believe noboady has mentioned the quality of the tv coverage? the shots from the road were so bad most of the time you couldnt even make out the riders numbers?? even the helicopter shots were out of focus

I understand but the point is it can be done and Hartford and 94.7 have proved this time and again. Surley CSA could have used an experienced company like Hartford to host the event. I think that the ego'c ate to big and CSA wanted all the kudos

How the hell can you take a race into soweto and not plan it?. CSA knows the world was watching us( And they stuff it up), This just shows that CSA can't organize a BIG event without making a stuff up   ..Will we ever get to c the big teams racing here Hell NO.

It was embarrassing to hear "The Voice" of cycling saying that he has NEVER seen anything like this in his cycling career,

Why not use the same company that does 94.7. They look like they can organize road closure. .

9/10 Times this is the last tour in S.A

I thought for this type of race you would have a lot of metro's and police present to protect the riders.

If this was properly done the reckless drivers should have been arrested!!!

Did you hear John Robbie chatting to Alec Lenferna earlier? John Robbie had never heard of the race until today. The 702 traffic team who would have been willing to help received no notice about the race. John Robbie himself was stuck in Menlyn for 20 min and like other road users around him, had no idea why. The publicity around the race has been very poor. I saw no signs around JHB on my daily routes warning motorists - a very different situation to the 94.7 where the public is flooded with information. CSA can't keep passing the blame to others.
