  1. I drove all the way from fkn Randburg, RANDBURG. You have a permission slip signed by me .... go forth
  2. May I recommend Napoli Trattoria in Fish Hoek. Love that place and make an effort to pop in whenever in Cape Town. Typically Italian family restaurant with cheesy deco to match. Service is also typically Italian in that often beautifully charismatic sense, or a demure of condescending attitude. With the odd skinner in Italian. Had a good old laugh when an ex caught old Bernado and his wife/mama out. They were waffling in Italian and gossiping about us. Come time for the bill my date graciously thanks him full Italiano, oke went blood red.
  3. Canyon do a nice split seatpost that offers a degree of flex and comfort, not sure if it's available as a stand alone item though. Merida also do a flex seatpost that works well and looks good.
  4. Meeeep .... coming from Bidon side through the trees, nearly clipped three trail runners at speed. Got a "OPEN YOUR FKN EYES" Said I'll aim better next time.
  5. I don't think so. I'm selling an item that is brand new and while that's the case it isn't covered by warranty point of sale or support. So there has to be a compromise on the price.
  6. For all the marketing, I do like the trend of bike engineers intersecting aero/climbing bikes, for lack of a better term. Caley Fretz did a good overview on CyclingTips and drilled down a few details. Enjoyed the wordplay as well, entertaining. Unrelated. Saw Orca also mentioned here, such an under rated brand, especially in SA. Have always liked the guys and find myself following their stuff more lately. Maybe because looking at Spain in the long run.
  7. Same with Blairgowrie and Linden nearby, even some of the Linden spots. Towards the river/spruit though are some gems in Parkhurst. Vibey area and Fourth is always a blast, will miss Pepi's tattoo spot though.
  8. Under rated and versatile bike, especially here in SA. Rode one for a while and loved it. Keep the fork, better for overall riding in the long run and just one ride somewhere like van Gaalen, Buffelsdrift or Thaba will be testament to this. Narrower tyres, 2.5 work fine on those rims. If you can swing it, a spare set of wheels with a more standard rim/rubber setup will go a long way. You don't want to hear this, but it is literally the most practical and cost effective solution.
  9. This is also pretty informative and gives a decent overview... https://www.cyclingnews.com/features/best-cycling-computers/
  10. This thread may be of help. https://community.bikehub.co.za/topic/186265-lezyne-gps-value-for-money/page-1
  11. Higher price but not necessarily a higher markup. Also different supply chain can be a factor. Similar thing happens across all markets, look at Sony/Nikon vs Fuji/Canon similar products with bigger pricing variations. What are you looking for though? Functionality wise there are a few alternative options to consider that are well priced and as good, if not arguably better. Lezyne Sigma Rox/Roxio Giant Bryton (may not be local importers though)
  12. Beat me to it .... I have no qualms about rubbing one out in the shower over this.
  13. Nice one Frosty, I've had the older Super GPS and loved it. The only reason I got rid of it and kept my Bryton is because the Bryton has navigation on it. I am looking at renewing with one of the Lezynes though, considering their range for both running and cycling. Particularly like their robust design, battery life and secure lock mounting bracket. Both superb options though if looking for an equivalent alternative the G and W that meets 90% of the functionality. Unfortunate that Bryton no longer has a local agent but I've found their international support desk ok.
  14. From RH .."Wow, what a hectic 24-hours! Since we have not been issued with any written documentation explaining our alleged transgressions we have decided to reopen on Wednesday. Remember we are closed Mondays and Tuesdays so from Wednesday to Friday we will trade as usual. Once we have more clarity about the effect of numbers, we will decide how to manage access to the two coffee shops and the trails on Saturday and Sunday when there are so many people wanting to visit. Thank you for all the offers of assistance, we may still take you up on them if necessary" https://www.facebook.com/watch/?v=720646792066812
  15. Oh. Them kind of tools.
  16. So the other one is going spare, unattended ..... The raw finish with clear coat is sublime.
  17. Currently what I'm running. SRAM Red levers with an XO derailleur on a 10 speed SLX cassette. 42 tooth chainring up front. Gearing range covers 88% of riding. (88% because science) Did this as a hack moons back when there wasn't really the number options available like now. GRX and SRAM's Apex come to mind as fantastic 1x options. Something I'd look at with and oval chainring up front.
  18. Can echoe this, plus you're getting a new bike with a clear serviceable baseline, decently specced and with up to date standards plus warranty. Rides like the clappers.
  19. Was going through some image/Instagram archives. Pyga Zero 29 ... a gem, was fortunate to ride a test/demo for a bit including J2C. Really one of Pyga's most under rated products. Arguably a 'forever' bike.
  20. From the recent SXSE Hustle ...
  21. Thoroughly enjoyed this. Did 88km of the route on Friday with two mates. Love the formulae the crew came up with. Definitely going out to do the full route and have an explore.
  22. Unlikely they'll closing down or disappear completely. The reality is that on their own Bicycling, Runners World and some other titles actually have a large footprint and are profitable. At least as stand alone entities. Same with community media like the newspapers. Being constrained within a large holding company is not realistic in the context of exec expectations while at the same time creating an unsustainable earning gap. Far too many layers. Take a look the near 500 zar million salaries for two people on the holding company as an example. Good opportunity for publications to operate independently with focussed teams. In broad terms print is neither here nor there as a choice medium, print demand with quality production/repro is key. In particular tying that into the digital space. Perhaps breakaway from the traditional print/distribution model. There are a number of print titles thriving, the commonality here is that they are independant titles or part of a smaller stable with support. It's a question of being able to operate efficiently without being suppressed by those who know the cost of everything, but not the value. Case in point; Drum Magazine. A title that has incredible history and pedigree, enough to go up against any international brand. Instead it was reduced to a weekly gossip rag and repro was cut to the bone, to the extent that the pages were so thin you could see layout on the opposite page. If you kill the product quality so much and then start to kill the ability of those creating the content. Goodbye consumer confidence and credibility. Goodbye reader.
  23. He's the marketing guy at Rush, so yeah he will be involved and it seems he has leniency in other projects. None of these things clash. Good for him, he gets to do what he loves and put food on the table and is secure in his work. Other people's perceptions are just that, their perceptions. Nothing more.
