  1. I just finished watching the Dave Chappelle special on Netflix. I watched it because I heard Joe Rogan talk about it. Apparently the critics at Rotten Tomatoes gave it 0% while the audience gave it 99%. How is that possible? Well after watching it I can understand. I loved it, but can see why it goes against everything that we are supposed to say or find funny. He pokes fun it the most un PC topics possible and gets away with it. I love dark humor though.

Anyone else watch it? Which side of the fence did it fall for you?

PS. I know there is a tv program thread but for me this is not a tv program. Its a much bigger topic about the world we live in

  2. Just gauging interest here lads. I have a Breitling colt that I am potentially looking to part with. Beautiful timepiece. Mint Condition. All Boxes, certificates etc in place. Have owned and loved it for many years (only really used on special occasions ) and its maybe time to let someone else enjoy her.

Looks like the attached stock photo. WhatsApp me at Zero 8 2 four 5 four 1397 for more info or pics??

I buy and sell my watches through topwatch.co.za. They always offered me fair prices and also buy back watches you bought from them at 90% of the price you paid. Maybe check with them for a price on your watch.
  3. If you have ever tried on a Breitling with the "super engineer bracelet" its ridiculous!

Had to google that! Looks very cool. Reminded me for some reason of the Omega Deville “brick bracelet “. It was a piece of art. Never got the level of recognition it deserved, probably because it was paired with the wrong watch.
  4. Mesh is trending at the moment. Have you seen the Crafter Blue rubber straps? They look great on Omega's, Breitling and Rolex?

I love the mesh way more than I expected. It is super comfortable and the engineering that went into it is impressive. The rubber strap also compliments the watch, but is not nearly as distinctive. When I got my first Panerai I went down the strap rabbit hole. There are some amazing strap makers out there. Really love some of the hand made rugged leather straps purposely made for Panerai.

The millage you get out of swapping out straps on the same watch is not to be under estimated!

  5. Round 1 and 2 of EWC will not be super technical. The only way you will write yourself off is if you ride above your limits.

Re: protective gear, only needed if you are gonna push your limits. I did the whole series last year with a normal helmet (also ride Helderberg without pads and full face weekly). I will however ride with protection this year because I am keen to push myself a bit.

Long story short - I think the only event you will NEED protective gear is Jonkershoek, as that has Plumber and Iron Monkey in there, and they have indicated there will be 5 stages this year which can only mean Firehut or Status Quo (extra nappies needed).

But... Hoogekraal and Contermans are not hard to ride, and if last year is anything to go by - gaps, jumps, techy stuff is very very well marked and you will have enough time to go around.

Just DO IT!! The organisers put so much time and effort into making enduro accessible to everyone and they do a dam good job of it. Trust me, you will not be ridiculed or judged for going around obstacles or walking sections. It really is a super fun day out and you will not regret taking part....

Good advise this! I had great fun at my first one 2 weeks ago and also only had a normal helmet and knee pads. Did not really need the knee pads for Uitkyk, but I wanted to look the part. The vibe was great and everyone is super relaxed.

The intervals at Uitkyk was self determined, which was great. I made a point of telling the guy behind me to give me an extra few seconds. That worked great as no one tried to overtake me on any of the stages.

  6. @Delarey are you the guy we met at the bottom of GSpot on Thursday? You said you’re doing your first enduro this weekend. You’re on an Evil if I’m not mistaken. Glad you enjoyed it!

Anywho. Want to enter the on that Dirtopia is hosting on the 19th of May. How long do these events take?

Lol, yes that was me. It was a tough day. My elapse time for the Endoro 4h15, but we were at back. Total distance was around 30km and the climbing was around 1000. In the heat today it was a touch ride.
  7. How did it go?

That heat was unexpected, I'm a fried chicken now

It was awesome! I did give away my newbie status on stage 1 when I rode straight past the tag post at the finish and started pushing my bike up that little hill while chatting with the guys sitting. They had to send me back to go tag. [emoji28]

The heat and dust was tough towards the end. Fair bit of climbing as well.

Everyone was super friendly. Very different vibe to XC races I have done.

  8. Nah I'll never buy it, as the years tick by I'm realizing I'd rather spend my shekles on travel than a watch. I do say though good watch buying (if done properly) is a great investment/asset though. Certainly better than a lot of other more typical classes.

My first ever bonus (and as it turns out my last ....) went into a IWC. I LOVE the brand. That and Panerai are my top of the pops. If I come across fair pre-owned deal one day, who knows.

We were in Zurich end of last year and walking mouth agape through those watch shops was a fantastic experience.

I totally agree re IWC and Panerai. Almost pulled the trigger on a IWC Le Petit Prince recently, but was not ready to sell anything yet. The 43mm size with classic pilot look is stunning and super comfortable

  9. Soon after I wrote that earlier I came across a for sale pic of the only Tag I've ever REALLY wanted... The Gulf livery Monaco. I'm a sucker for Gulf coloured anything

Definitely try and wear it a bit before you ever buy. I learned the hard way with my IWC Big Pilot that comfort is very important. I loved that watch, but I started to wear it less and less after the novelty wore off
