  1. Wow, going through the BOM, I can't believe that a Reverb AXS is R15k and it doesn't even drop by itself. Those Roval wheels are also crazy expensive at R44k, but then again they are super light.
  2. Years before CT started with their shark spotting, a family member in the Navy showed us footage they regularly took of sharks chilling out between bathers. They've always been there, and I don't think we've seen any significant increase in attacks over the last few years since we've became 'aware' of them.
  3. Like those brightly coloured Solomons trail running shoes. I've only seen them on people not even capable of running to the toilet. I personally find it embarrassing if my performance doesn't match the gear. And when I look at these s-works riders that climb up all the way to Saaltjie only to turn around at the trailhead (some even stop and take a photo of the board) and take the fire road down again, I just think to myself...money can buy you nice things (which I have plenty myself too), but norrafok can it buy you skills and balls.
  4. I'm pretty sure some streaming service will be eager to pick up the tab if the cable/dstv brigade go bust.
  5. Neither. Looks like a Western Diamondback rattlesnake.
  6. The company’s insurance should only cover damage to property. Medical expenses aren’t covered by insurance or 3rd party. You have to go claim against RAF for that. That oke should sue them for damages if they’re not willing to let their insurance cover it. Also, open a case of attempted murder and negligence to make the ‘pap dik aan’
  7. Similar thing happened to me a few years ago. Couldn't drink more than half a Windhoek light without feeling crap. It's quite amazing how many random people would string up a conversation with you to know why you aren't drinking. Anyhow, most of my mates and family enjoy drinking because we enjoy good wine and beer, not to get wasted. Get-togethers involve each one bringing some special wines and sharing in the experience. Apart from one friend, no one gives a hoot if you don't drink, it usually means there's more wine for the rest. As tragic as the consequences of it, alcohol is very much ingrained in human civilization and cultures. Interesting read on the history of booze; https://www.nationalgeographic.com/magazine/2017/02/alcohol-discovery-addiction-booze-human-culture/
  8. Isn't that about the same for every other industry out there? You basically spend your 20s doing donkey work and earning peanuts. Sometimes you even do ALL the work, and still only get peanuts and zero credit. Every occupation has a ceiling for earning potential, and of course there are exceptions where individuals exceed that by a significant margin - but are they the benchmark and is it realistic to measure yourself up to them? So there's no point complaining about it if you made that choice to do it. Sometimes fulfillment and job satisfaction is more important than chasing $$$. I must add, I do have a problem with some academic institutions that just push students through the system whilst there aren't any/many prospects for them and they just continue to flood the market. They love painting this rosey picture of what your life as a [insert occupation] will be like. But then again, academics are about as in touch with the commercial world as our esteemed commie leaders.
  9. Personally I would invite all the parties involved to a meeting at the sellers house (unknowingly of the other's attendance) to make it very uncomfortable to those who are lying, and sort it out there on the spot. When you get the upper hand, tell them you're paying R 1.85 m and they have to sort it out among themselves who gets what ito commission etc.
  10. The fact that the seller never saw any of those offer could mean that you have a foot to stand on. Afaik, the agent has to go to the seller with the offer regardless of what they think.
  11. ...and spending Saturdays working in the garden [emoji1749]
  12. This^^^ I've honestly given up long ago already, as it usually ends up having to type out a goddamn essay in response to that. I just glance over most posts, especially the high horse ones, and 90% of the time delete a post before I've even typed out half of it.
  13. That also happens when you grow up.
  14. Man, that could definitely convert me too. Every time I see BMX riders in town on I long for those skateboard years just goofing around trying to do all the tricks for hours on end.
  15. [emoji38] I was also wondering about these mythical ads they refer to.
  16. I'd rather be as rich as that friend that can gift such a bike, but still just buy socks for the plebs.
  17. I also considered one of those drill adapters, but ended up making a jig for the bench dog holes. Get an auger bit - which I suppose you'd need in any case to get through a decently thick top. Make a jig by drilling a guide hole with your drill press in a nice hardwood block (I'd say at least 70 mm thick). If you can add a metal tube or bushing of appropriate diameter then it'll last longer - but the auger bit won't cut to much into the sides of the guide hole. Add stops to the jig so that you have a constant distance from the edge of the top as well as a pin to ensure even spacing between holes. That way you don't have to measure anything. Hope it makes sense. Edit, a picture is worth more.
  18. At R9500 I expect at least a rim job at the end of each ride.
  19. Anyone know if Jonkers is open to riding?
  20. We have a higher end Jura and a cheap Breville at the office. At one tenth the price, and even with pre-ground, the Breville makes better coffee.
  21. Well it's not like this shithole offered him any of those opportunities.
  22. Doubt it. Now that freedom of movement isn’t restricted, they’ll all return to happily slouch on their fat asses in front of the tv and dwelling around in the malls.
  23. Just a word of caution, those 5Ah batteries are awesome, but heavy. It will kill your wrists if you work long hours in uncomfortable positions. Regardless, that's a good kit, but you can get it for even less here; https://hwconline.co.za/dewalt-dcd796p2-18v-drill-dw.html Get both. Bosch has a nice range, especially the 12/10.8V range, but Makita has the cordless palm router and biscuit joiner that I'm eyeing.
  24. This image has nothing to do with tasting meat right?
  25. To make you feel even better, I can almost guarantee you they paid less than the R35k. Edit, see Kranswurm beat me to it.
