  1. Take your pick - the one is as good as the other. Go with the better components if there is a difference.
  2. I think you know the answer. Race conditions are never the same as a good tough ride - always tougher.
  3. There is a history that you might not be aware of. I certainly do not condone any pushing of any ranger to the ground or throwing stones at them. I cannot imagine any rider actually doing that either if it was a cyclist at all as apparently SANParks did not mention that it was a cyclist it could have been a hiker or other and the "other" could refer to some dubious characters that frequent that area. That is why I said I would like to know what really happened as some embellishment could also be in the offing. "Grow up" in deed - read my words as they stand and don't add your own interpretation please.
  4. I want to know what really happened !! . According to a SANPaks spokesperson on the radio this morning SANParks rangers are being abused on a regular basis on the mountain by cyclists.
  5. Really enjoyed it just a pity one cannot enjoy the magnificent views as the course demands your attention all the time. Anybody have an idea what the temperature was Saturday morning ??? Blerrie hot !!
  6. Work out the value of the components, add R30k and see if it is still worth it. What comeback do you have if there is issues with the frame.
  7. My first thought when I read the post heading !!! (And I suspect Alouette3 may just agree with you)
  8. Anyone riding Rocket Road above Sandy Bay. Want to ride it but concerned about safety. Would be keen to ride Karbonkelberg in a largish group.
  9. Regular service and pack with marine grease (Everon) preferably especially the rear hub. Make sure you eliminate as much if not all play when you set the cones and lock them.

    Lube that

As a general purpose grease I use Everon marine grease. Chain - car oil or machine oil but without detergents and no synthetics. Shocks and fork - go to the local motorbike shop. AND Sram Butter
  11. . . Pure Savage - Are you going to change into a mankini just after Miller's Point
  12. If it has been treated previously I would go with raw but thinned down with terps. Raw linseed stays tacky longer but it will eventually dry or you could give it a good wipe with terps and a rag.
  13. A long lost word best forgotten and left there.
  14. Here you go. Don't mess around. https://www.miosa.co.za/index.php Motoring Industry Ombudsman of SA Or contact this lady for advice or more. http://www.wendyknowler.co.za/
  15. Came to the same conclusion just last night - replace seals. Should be able to purchase them from a seal supplier your bearing man should also have them as they are pretty standard. Alouette3 has been seconded to do the task - loves to tinker and solve a problem.
  16. I have no problem with signs and would think they are mandatory but that is as far as the "authorities" go. Make an effort to deal with the cause. Nada !!
  17. This is a major problem in SA We have a problem area. We put up a sign "Problem Area" Problem solved You takes your chances not our problem you were warned.
  18. Nope - just no !! He needs to take it back and a full refund.
