  1. I'm an early adopter of indoor training, having done more than 30,000 km on my IDT over the last 10 years... 😵 I've used Zwift, Sufferfest (Wahoo), Rouvy, TrainerRoad and Training Peaks. I ride indoors 3 days a week, most of the year. TrainerRoad is without doubt the best in terms of training plans and the introduction of Adaptive Training has elevated it above the others even further. If you're looking to free ride, Zwift is fun. If you're looking to train with a specific goal in mind, TR is brilliant, assuming that you can stick to the plans. Having said all that, I'm currently using Training Peaks, because I'm working towards 70.3 and the multisport environment is much better on TP.
  2. Zwift races are good fun and the big draw card for me. Rouvy routes are nice but there's so seldom a race with more than a couple of participants. Exchange rate is pushing up the costs too but if it's a choice Netflix or zwift I will choose zwift.
  3. I have two Garmin Connect accounts. All my Garmin-recorded workouts, and occasionally my Apple workouts go directly to the GC account linked to Discovery, or Discovery direct with Apple Health). Indoor workouts won’t show distance and elevation, but Discovery only require HR (or speed), so it’s an easy solution. My Lezyne head unit, as well as Zwift/Rouvy workouts all go directly to my original GC account, and other analytical apps (TP, WKO5, etc). If I have to upgrade to another head unit, eg. Hammerhead, then my Discovery account is unaffected. Intervals is the only account that I have to upload manually, as I don’t use the Strava-link.
  4. Maybe Zwift, Rouvy or other virtual trainer program? Apparently I have also visited New York, London and Italy with my bicycle.
  5. as Gr3mlin said, connection issue. I had similar with my wahoo using a phone, switched to a pc and did a firmware update and all was sorted again. What are you using to run your training? pc or phone/tablet? Zwift, rouvy etc?
  6. Hey man. Just to add a little to what's been said. I can only really comment on Rouvy and Zwift but there are several platforms for all tastes. And RGT in particular is free during this whole mess. I've been a big fan of Rouvy and I've really enjoyed what it's given me. Rouvy is really great at giving you a POV view of a real road somewhere. Want to ride the Tourmalet? No Problem. Want to ride Kona? They have that too. There are about 3000 routes to choose from. The Augmented Reality stuff is particularly well done and many of the routes are in the dolomites with climbs like Passo Giau and Pordoi. I've been riding mostly climbs and working through a list of climbs. Also the pricing. You get 3 logins for your $12 so if you have another rider in the house that's a big saving. It also runs on my smart tv box so less wires all over the place. That's what it does well. What it does less well is the lack of training plans and the workouts compared to Zwift seem like less fun. I can't really put my finger on why. It would also be nice if you could somehow pair your workout with a chosen route video and "ride" that. It still has ERG mode so you can still do the same thing ITO workouts that you do in Zwift. You can watch a downloaded movie inside a workout if that is your gig. Now Zwift Firstly the training plans. I just love the training plans. You sign up for a training plan and off you go. It takes all of the guesswork out of it. You just climb on your bike and do the workout. The ERG mode takes care of the resistance and the markers on the road mark your entry and exit from the zones. The little text messages telling you what to concentrate on are great and the workout (not all) also tells you what cadence you need to be working at. You also get little stars for each section of the workout completed so you can judge how well you did the workout. This makes for a great workout experience. The group rides and races look great. I've only done one group ride and that was an enjoyable experience. I've also done a "meetup" ride with a mate but that didn't go very well. too much wattsapping and not enough riding. I'm keen to try a crit race at some point. The social aspect of Zwift is also great. You are constantly aware of the fact that those are real people sweating away in their pain cave just like you. On Rouvy you never get that sense of togetherness. The little things like thumbs ups, levels and power ups might be annoying to many but they are a way of keeping you engaged. There's also the road noise. I know most choose to ride with tunes banging out but I actually enjoy the "road noise" that Zwift makes. The things it does less well. Try as I might i just can't get it to see my HR monitor. It sees it but as soon as it links to my trainer it disappears. Grrrrr. It won't run on my tv box so i have to run it on my laptop with an hdmi cable to the tv. Toooooooo many wires. I have lost connection a few times but that is more a function of my laptop and wifi than zwift. The beauty of these apps is that you aren't married to them. For me right now it's Zwift but guaranteed I'll get bored in a few months and jump back on to Rouvy.
  7. I was using Zwift...but also tried Rouvy (which has really improved lately and is cheaper). Rouvy has won out for me. I enjoy the real (video'ed) scenarios (not CGI). I downloaded them onto my PC/Laptop so they don't chew up data every time I ride. More folk using it and enjoy the competing against the other riders whether its a 12km sprint or a 78km long ride. So no, not using Zwift anymore.
  8. Will disagree with you about RGT being K*CK... but each to their own. I ran Rouvy for many years and long before it was even called Rouvy And to be honest Duane it becomes rather tedious and tiresome the way you pump Rouvy and slag off every other app. Not everyone just wants to ride a road, many like to do structured workouts, load their own GPX etc.... not continually ride roads around the world. In fact Kinomap and BigRingVR do it better than Rouvy. The biggest issue is you quickly tried all available during the 2 week free trial periods when you were first getting into indoor riding and are still fairly new to it. If it you did not like it you moved on. The only reason you stuck with Rouvy is because of the family option and free addition people you can add. So less the slagging off of other apps, enjoy what you like... after all it's just your opinion and people will like other apps for different reason. Why I enjoyed Sufferfest, Virtugo, also enjoy RGT for what it is but really when am training I actually use Golden Cheetah train mode and structured workouts. I don't need to see a moving road in front of me whether real, augmented or cartoon as you call it. I guess is why people who take their indoor riding seriously are generally on Trainerroad.
  9. I like riding on Rouvy, but I agree the user interface sucks - it is chaotic. They are clearly more cyclists who code rather than the Zwift dev team who I imagine have a gaming background, and the routes themselves are largely crowdsourced. Many of the videos are uploaded by users. I have created + filmed a few myself, but that does mean that their quality is somewhat variable. Read the ratings and reviews to find better routes - as a result there are many more to choose from, but they are not well 'curated' as such. To address a few of your other issues if they are detracting from the overall experience. 1. Rouvy AR was released earlier this year just before we went into lockdown. Not ideal, but it is a low risk upgrade path for them. I'll complain with you if there are still 2 apps in a year's time. 4. if you click the 'download' button in the AR app you'll see the list of files you have downloaded, and then you need to navigate to each in turn to see its profile. Rather add them to your Favourites and use the Rouvy website to review them. Yes this could be better - the back and forth between website-Rouvy App irritates me. $$$$'s - rather pay in CZK's - it is cheaper.
  10. 2021 my wife and I both paid for Zwift. Plus I have Rouvy Premium, as the family thing means three people can use it (me, wife, my dad). Now I really only use Trainerroad, and my wife and dad use Rouvy; really should just cancel my Zwift...
  11. Rouvy has added 3D effects rendered on top of the videos (riders, banners), and in their latest update (Omni mode) for a few courses you can even change the camera angle.
  12. Semi not related question: Considering a change to Rouvy. Their website indicates a dedicated graphics card as a requirement...why? What affect will a graphics card have on the software when riding normal videos? Anyone knows?

    Give it a TRI

Me me me me me!!! Will be my second. I see they've got the bike course up on Rouvy: • Vanilla: https://my.rouvy.com/virtual-routes/detail/70082 • With race director commentary: https://my.rouvy.com/virtual-routes/detail/70856 Honest course
  14. Rouvy has a family setup included in their subscription which can allow you up to 3 users. Well worth the look. Whenever I get to buying my virtual trainer I will be going for Rouvy because of this feature. https://support.rouvy.com/s/article/Family-Sharing?language=en_US
  15. I ride Jan Smuts, Homestead, R55 and Main once or twice per year; no need to train the route but rather the gradients. I don’t have a problem on the hills because I know that for x-watts for y-minutes, it will be tolerable. Here in the south, we have Glenvista, Mulbarton and Suikerbosrand Nature Reserve, but Zwift/Rouvy can do the same (simulate the effort required). Training doesn’t have to be on the exact route, but rather on similar terrain and duration. One needs to learn to feel how hard it needs to be, and a little bit more.
  16. I believe the safest route would be on Rouvy 🤪😁🤣
  17. Been using rouvy for many years, just registered with Fulgaz for the free 4 week Trail and have only done 20 km on FG, so dont really have an enough experience. One Thing, FG Picture Quality is excelent, I'm not sure what my Setting is on rouvy but the Video on FG that i rode last night was excelent. I noticed that with FG you have a view of the entire route profile which showed my postion on the route, but it did not Show any other riders positions (which rouvy does), and yes there were other riders according to the Display that showed the riders FTP. Looking Forward to hear other comments
  18. Magny Cours and Hockenheim aren’t showing up on Rouvy, so I’ll have to ride these IRL to finish this badge collection. currently looking for some hot Swedish chicks/blondes (am I allowed to say that on this website?)
  19. For the routes on Rouvy: Fish - https://my.rouvy.com/virtual-routes/detail/44345 Hang Man - https://my.rouvy.com/virtual-routes/detail/44687 Parrot/Eagle - https://my.rouvy.com/virtual-routes/detail/44603
  20. Soooo. As reported last week you can link an AR video from Rouvy's library to a workout. I did a Rouvy workout on Friday. it was an hour and a bit workout. The route I chose was a Ventoux climb. So in the hour I figured I'd "cover" 12-14km and do about 500-600m of fake elevation. Give or take. The stats that came out were 30ish something km and no elevation. so basically it was just the video playback from the route matched to the power I was pushing out. Certainly a step in the right direction but for workouts matched to video the winner for me is still Sufferfest.
  21. There are probably other ways to do it, but this is how i do it from my laptop that Rouvy is installed on To ride a route you created from the device Rouvy program is loaded on: Login Click on "All routes" Click on "Created" You will then see the routes you have created Click on the desired route Click on "Start Ride" (big green button) Then click on "Start Race" (Even if you just ride by yourself rouvy calls it a race) Start pedaling, or choose the yellow "Warm Up" button if you want to warm up a bit first To create a race from the device Rouvy program is loaded on: Login If you dont know the route you want to race, it helps to browse the available rides before starting the create a race process. Click on "Online Races" Click on "Create Online Race" Follow the steps ( 3 or 4 steps )
  22. Good question, what cycling computer do you use...Garmin, Polar... Short answer, I don't know anymore... I used to download rides to Rouvy direct from my Joule cycling computer which i received with my Powerbeam when i bought it, but the joule died long ago and I have not uploaded any rides since then from my current bike computer (Polar M460 and polar's online program Polar Flow) Essentially you will have to locate where the particular ride you want to upload FIT. or TCX. files are stored. These files will need to be on the same device that your Rouvy program is installed. Then login to Rouvy and look for the "Activities Import" button and then "upload file" Click the FIT. or TCX. files you want to upload Sorry i cant provide exact directions, my Rouvy is on a laptop and my Polar on my desk top so I cant try it out at the moment... If you find out, please let us know
  23. I have a Phantom 5 and use rouvy as an exercise program. I have tried Rouvy AR twice now and experience a lot of resistance on the bike that I can hardly finish 2km. Must I have the “the o-synce-multiremote” connected to the bike to ride on the Rouvy AR, so that I can gear up or down? regards
