Like big time!

It looks like a hybrid of some kind. The nose is that of a split screen, but the sides look like a much later model. Still great looking!

The early Porsche 356 motors were basically tuned VW mills with trick cams and better carbs. It's only with the first 911s that Porsche really went significantly bigger and more powerful, although the flat Boxer design still stayed. Interesting that the newest icon of that design is doing duty in the Subarus.

Porsche and Subaru worked together on the new Subaru EE20 diesel engines. The boxer in the new Toyota GT86 is also a normally aspirated Scooby motor. Strangely enough Toyota has a small stake in Fuji Heavy Industries which is Subaru's parent company.
