Mine would cycle through a weekend, but ja, no public holiday off.

I remember the one year I ended up being on morning shift for both Easter and Christmas(this then meant night shift for new years eve). Had a guy in our crew with 2 small kids. He missed both the Easter Bunny and Father Christmas. I am glad I stopped shifts before I had kids. Now its just most Saturday mornings for me but it's OT so not part of my shift so I only work when I am free.

You reminded me of this one. Read it from the top down - it will have a very different meaning than if you read it from the bottom up. Much like ones' perspective can change your reality.

"Today was the absolute worst day ever

And don’t try to convince me that

There’s something good in every day

Because, when you take a closer look,

This world is a pretty evil place

Even if

Some goodness shines through once in a while

Satisfaction and happiness don’t last

And it’s not true that

It’s all in the mind and the heart

Because

True happiness can be obtained

Only if ones’ surroundings are good

It’s not true that good exists

I’m sure you can agree that

The reality

Creates

My attitude

It’s all beyond my control

And you’ll never in a million years hear me say that

Today was a good day"
