Soaked it in some vinegar and then used the pointy mcthingy to clean the 1000 holes. Works perfectly now.

Try blowing compressed air through it - 8 bar blows most stuff out the holes - you can use a specific coffee detergent for cleaning it first - or just toss it in the dishwasher

Anyone selling a small coffee roaster?

I'm going through about 1kg worth of beans a week and want to try roasting my own

Where will you get green beans from?

I believe the hot item in Hong Kong, at the moment, is a gas mask. One shop sold out in minutes of opening.

In 2009 I was in Ürümqi during the Uyghur demonstrations, the Chinese closed all communication with the outside world, we couldnt phone, sms or email. No media was allowed. Alot of people lost their lives. Luckily the world is watching Hong Kong.

I've found a couple of places online that are willing to sell green beans

Can by per kg or even a 60kg bag

Approx how much are the green beans per kg?

Prices vary from about R70 - R100 per kg for most varies

But can go up to R170 for some specialty varieties.

I've seen them selling for the same price as roasted beans which is just crazy.

After yield loss you end up paying much more.

Not quite sure what the loss is though.

Thanks, I'm assuming those prices may drop a bit if you take quantity?

How long do green beans stay fresh?

And how much electricity would be needed per kg to roast them?

Green beans have quite a long shelf life I believe, think at least one year.

How do you intend on roasting them?

Stove top or do you have a roaster?

That's good news, probably stovetop, I would have thought in an oven would be preferable?

I have heard that you get good results with one of those pop corn makers that blows hot air.
