Has anyone used one of the Chemex Coffee Makers?
My dad loves coffee and is extremely hard to get gifts for bc if he sees something he likes he usually buys it for himself before anyone gets a chance to.

He's got a bunch of other goodies as well that he likes to rotate through and I thought this would be the best bet for a daily easy to use thing.

They make great coffee. I assume he has a good grinder. The kettle is also good to have. Perhaps shop around, might get a bundle cheaper elsewhere.

Do you live at the sea, or is it poor quality manufacturing? I see what machines cost and then rusting through?

I'm leaning towards poor quality manufacturing. But it is at least 10 years old as well.

I haven't had rust issues on anything else. Somerset West is far enough from the sea.

I've instructed my wife to remind me that my coffee machine was also made in Italy whenever I mention Alfa Romeo.

It still makes great coffee, but it is held together with duct tape....
